No one has posted on this topic yet, so I figured I would give everyone that isn't already aware of it's existence a heads up.
There are now sets of equipment that offer +1 Skill for a each tradeskill. Also available are special crystals that allow you to attach your name to the synth'd item.
Obtaining this cool stuff:
Where -
There is an NPC located at each Guild dressed in this new gear. They are the ones that offer you the items.
Requirements -
If you have attained the rank of Novice (28 or higher) you may enter into a contract with that guild. You can only be under contract with one guild at a time. If you change contracts you forfeit all the points you have earned.
How -
Under contract, you earn Guild Points that allow you to purchase items, these items being the crafting equipment. In order to get these points you must trade in a specific item related to that guild each Earth Day. You can only get so many points per day.
What's known so far -
Since you can only earn so many points a day, no one has any of this equipment yet. I am a level 58 Cooking Craftsman. They asked me to synthesize Meat Jerky which is a level 26 synth. Others around me also were making Meat Jerky so its possible everyone is synthing the same stuff. Each synth of meat jerky has a yeild of 2. Each Meat Jerky gives you 30 Guild Points. If you never fail or make HQ items (which happened to me a lot >.< ) thats 30x2x12 Guild Points per 12 synths or 720 guild points. Well, it just so happens that the Chef's Hat (the first and only item available to me) costs a whopping 70,000 points. The NPC told me that I could turn in Meat Jerky for a total of 1520 points. After that, I would no longer get points off this item.
Stats -
Since Chef's Hat was the only thing available to me, it is the only item I know the stats for. It is a Level 1 Headgear, that enhances "Resist Poison" (dont ask me why) and gives you +1 Cooking. It is also Rare/EX. Since I didn't want to lose my guild points by changing contracts, I do not know the stats for the other guild items in other guilds.
Super Crystals -
As stated above you can also trade in your guild points for advanced crystals. These crystals have different names (listed on the POL update notes) and allow you to add your name to your synth'd item. All the crystals except the Light and Dark ones cost 200 gps, the L & D ones cost 500 gps.
Conclusions -
If 1520 is the most points you can get in a day then that will take 46 days to accumulate the 70,000 pts necessary for the Chef's Hat. I have to believe this is not the case. I'm sure a harder item of the day will end up giving you more points and you can get more in a day.
I am happy with the system except for the slow Guild Point gain. By making the requirements being a Novice you're guaranteeing that only serious crafters get the good duds. This is reinforced by making the items Rare/EX.
All Meat Jerky was bought off the AHs of all the countries so I'll bet you don't actually have to make these items yourself to get the points. This is not too big a deal in my opinion. The rich are the ones that are going to be able to get this stuff. Whether you buy the item of the day or synth it, you get nothing in return but the item at the end of the road. Since its all loss and no profit, don't expect anyone but hardcore crafters with this gear.
Being primarily a chef I'm excited to see we stand alone with our unique White Apron while all the other gulids seem to share the yellowish/brown one.
Fellow crafters, post your thoughts/insight into this great new stuff!
