Goldsmith Question

Hey I got my goldsmith up to lvl 3. I've heard you can do either Copper Hairpins or Brass Ignots. I wanted to make the Ignots. So I was wondering if I started crafting them now at level 3. What would my failure rate be? I hope its not high, as I don't want to make hairpins =(

I was also wondering what skill level I had to be in Goldsmithing to make Silver Ignots?? Thanks for everything

Yes, brass ingots can be made as low as level 2 assuming you purchase the advanced synthesis. Starting at level 3, you can take those brass ingots and turn them into brass sheets(Brass ingot + fire crystal). Doing that combination you that can take you all the way to level 11 (note: Brass ingots no longer help after level 7). Upon reaching level 9, you can take those brass sheets and make brass flowerpots (only good if you want to garden, they don't sell *too* well) (3brass sheet + fire crystal = brass flowerpot). Then once you reach level 11 cheer! You can now make silver ingots. This is most useful because. ..
Silver Ingot = 350 at the guild
fire crystal = 200 (assuming you buy it)
350 x4 + 200 = 1600
Silver ingots sell for 2000.
2000 -1600 = 400 gil profit.

You can take that all the way to level, making money and leveling.

(People in bastok are more liable to purchase the silver ingots, due to the goldsmith guild there, and the quest "Father Figure" in which you give a guy a silver ingot in return for 2200)

ah you have helped alot but I was wondering at skill lvl three if brass ignots failure rate is high or will I make them fairly easy?

and at lvl 11 will silver ignots be easily made or will failure rate be high ?? Thanks

Pretty much you will not be able to do brass at level nor silver ingots at 11 unless you get advanced synthesis (it costs 30gil (60 by the time you do silvers) at the girl near the guildmaster) Make sure you aren't just getting the normal one that is free (I made this mistake). When you do this, you will fail occasionally. But it isn't high as 1/5, chances are at first you might fail 1/5 tops (to the best of my knowledge). And compared to the others alternatives this is the best option. Now while you might fail on 1 out of 5 or so, rest easy in the knowledge that the rates will go down.
