Does Alchemy get your money back ?

I want to invest my money into a craft, alchemy maybe wat I will go for . but first, I want to know if I were LV40 Alchemy, would I get my gil back from investment from 1-40 ?
I think about Cook as well, but it seems too many cooks recently :dead:

from what i heard alchemy doesnt really get you money back BUT there are situations where you can profit from 1 items i.e selling wax swords i normally get about a 25% profit margin. since i farm beehive chips and buy the bronze swords and sell the wax swords for about 900-1000 over at the windhurst AH

the alchemist guild is more like a support guild where you dont go to make a profit but you go to craft items that are actually useful in battle, i.e potions,ethers etc...
