  • Not lvling cook past lvl 50, what gives?

Before you guys mention it, yes, I have done and passed the guild test. It was the apple pie one.

I been doing everything, and have only seen like .2 gain so far.
I have tried done 12 synths of the following
Mulsum, Egg Soup and Spicy cracker and my skill just wont go up.
This is really pissing me off, I am hardly failing, and after 36 synths, using 3 different recipes I just cant gain lvl. I mean, is there a cooking genkai quest or something?

Welcome to crafting in the 50's I find that I get alot more skill ups when I try to craft on Darksday. Mine has really slowed down too though. Currently 54.9 in Alchemy.

yeah, skill seems to slow down, and cost go up

It's one of the reason I haven't advanced my cooking past 52.

Last profitable skill up syn I did was the crayfish balls, which also gave slow skill up (took making 5 stacks of crystals, 60 syns to go from 50-52...)

After than, I just haven't found anything that's profitable. Within the do-able range of 7 lvls, the baugreen saulte at 55 and yagudo drinks at 56 seems to show promis. Then I tried baugreen saulte, it turns out ot be a money loser. 170 for the fire crystal, 100 for the green, and 40 for selbina butter, to make something that sells for like 168 g to NPC, and doesn't move well in AH at all. ><

Yagudo drinks isn't as big of a money loser. But only breaks even at best if you don't fail, which never happens when you are skilling up. And they don't stack.... ; ; But I might end up just biting the bullet and push for 60.

yup... about 4x as much stuff to go up per level now. 50-55 i was making tiger leather (a lv.61 cap) with about a 1 in 10 failure rate... no skill gains. When i did get aa gain it'd be for .3 though :/

Heh, I am facing the same situation.

I just got 52 the day before in cooking. I was doing batagreen sautee. I lost roughly 2k per stack on it, that I remember.

I checked into other foods around the 52ish level and they all do not look very promising. That is to say, its doable I'm sure, but going to be hellaciously expensive. X_X

Not to mention, the gains seemed to slow down a lot more when I was working from 50-52. It was a huge slow down type of thing, but it was noticable.

I hope someone can post on their experiences post 52 cooking and offer some sage advice. ;.; I could use it right about now.

            Goodbye everyone.

*comfort* Welcome to crafting post 50!

If it's money you're worried about you can make a bijillion crayfish balls until 52. The lvling is sllllllow but you'll make a steady profit. Then switch to Mulsum or Yagudo drinks for a profit.

I found that if I do something about 5 lvl's higher I received a little better skill up ratio. Just be sure to get the advanced syth support.

I hear it gets easier again post 60. Hang in there!

Well, I stopped doing crayfish when I reached 51. If you did Grape Juice and saved them, do Mulsum up to 55-56. If not, I recommend Beaugreen Saute to 55.

I am 55.6 now, here is what I did. Crayfish to 50, combination of mulsum Beaugreen Saute to 54 and now doing Spicy Crackers. Like Natasha, I have found out that if I am doing a recipe 4-5 lvl above my skill I obtain gains more often. Just be sure to a) Get advanced support, b) Only craft in the day thats strong/weak for the crystal you are using (for example, if you are using fire crystal, craft on Fire and Ice day.)

My plan now is to just PT for XP during the weekend, and go back to crafting on Monday. I will do Spicy crackers to 56, focus on Stone Cheese to 60 then Colored Egg to 65. I certainly hope it gets back to 'normal' once I hit 60. ^-^

Oh, btw, I just sold the mulsum and saute to guild, and didnt lost much gil and since I made Crayfish ball from lvl 40 to 50 so the profit I got from those has let me afford to do the 'big' loss of Spicy crackers (they dont sell to guild, and 14 gil each to vendor, so they barely only cover the cost of the Fire crystal).
