  • Fishing: Alternate spot for Gugru Tuna?

Till now, the only spot I know of for Gugru Tuna is the Selbina/Mhaura ship. Problem is, you're gonna break a lot of rods fishing for them!

Does anyone know of an alternate spot to fish for Tuna, where it would be safer for our rods? This guy told me you can fish for Tuna in the East and West Saruta sea. Can anyone confirm this or name another spot where we can catch some? I'm sure alot of people around my level (33) want to know, hehe

Osakana's lists only the Ship as the fishing spot for Gugru Tuna, so I'm not sure E. or W. Saruta has it... I had fished once in the E. Saruta sea, but didn't catch any Gugru (of course, my skill is only 31, so that may have been it).

Oh don't worry, you have enough skill to catch them, especially if you have +4 Gear. I caught tons of them on the boat at lvl 30+4, but after loosing a Comp and a Mithran, I decided to take my leave, hehe. That's why I was hoping someone knew a rod-safe spot for them. If you didn't catch any in Saruta Sea, it's not for lack of skill. It's probably just that there aren't any there

Oh well, the search continues. If I can't find a safer place to fish for them, I'll just find an another leveling route.

Actually, what I'm doing right now is going for Bluetail (55) and Bladefish (71) in E. Saruta Sea. They both bite the same type of bait (sliced sardines) and one is small and one is large so you don't have to adjust for moon phases.

In addition, you can also catch Ogre Eels (35) and Gold Lobsters (46) w/ the same bait, and they're a lower skillcap, as well, which means you'll be catching enough of them to raise your skill to a level that would be able to catch Blues and Blades more efficiently.

However, if you're hoping to fish in E. Saruta Sea, be warned, your rod *CAN* break (happened to my Mithran the other day) so if you don't want broken rods, I'd suggest fishing in freshwater, rather than salt.

Composite rod won't break in East Sarutabaruta.

Unfortunately I don't think you can catch tuna anywhere but the boat, since they are pretty easy to catch with 30+ skill and I've basically tossed a sliced sardine or two into every salt water I've seen w/out any tuna.

As far as I know, the tunas ARE the ones that break the rods...

If you're boat fishing, don't bother with the sliced sardines, though. You'll usually have ~10 bites before a rod dies anyway, so just keep a couple minnows handy (stock up to like 3 before the guildshop closes, more if the next day's lightning). You'll still catch bluetails and nobles as well. If there's a person on your server raising alchemy at high levels they'll be buying broken composites like hotcakes, so break away if that's the case; over in Carbuncle it's 7000 a pop for a new composite, and 8000~9000 for a broken one, laf.
