  • Money problems

I want to learn a craft but mostly i want money! Im in San Doria so im limited as to which Guild to join but im not doing fishing cos i heard it's really boring.
I have 10k to spend so hopefully that will get me started but i'd like a return on that too, im not too bothered about making insane money i just want to do something that makes money faster than killing orcs for fire crystals.
    Im lvl 18 Thief.
I guess i gotta choose between carpenters guild and blacksmiths huh? But which is best for a low lvl low funds guy like me?

    I've got just the thing...

I think you should go with being a carpenter. Believe me, money wise, carpenter's got it going. The money isn't so bad at early lvls but at later lvls its awsome. Furniture sells for a lot. especially beds. When I first started woodworking I synthesized Arrowwood Lmbr. non-stop until lvl 3. Reason? You can buy Arrowwood Logs for 15G a piece at the guild shop and sell a stack of Arrowwood Lmbr. for around 2K. Thats quite a bit of profit when it comes to guilds at lower lvls. Not only is the money good, but the ingredients are easy to get. All the lumber types are made using whatever type of lumber in Log form (Arrowwood Log -> Arrowwood Lumber) and all are sold at the guild store or can be farmed. The only downside to this for me was finding Wind Crystals to synth with. I usually get large amount of Fire Crystals from Orcs and Gobs and trade them to Blacksmiths for my Wind Crystals. Blacksmiths need Fire and you need Wind (they're both worth about the same in my server), so everybody is happy. Well really its up to you, but I prefer the carpenter's guild.

There was a thread about getting up from lvl 9 to 30 or so not too long ago. It is still on the front page, with a title like "Woodworking pre-20s."

Cometgreen, too lazy to get a link
