I'm going to start playing as soon as my creditcard comes through as a mithra thieve with a ranger subclass later.Where can I collect the materials from that's near windhurst to work on my arrowcrafting so I can make my own arrows and when I won't die in the first 60 secs would be nice as well.....

I dont know windy but if you start in San or travel to San there are a lot of trees. The only bad thing about starting in a different country is you dont get the ring, but thats really the worst of it. Right outside San is a forest and if you go to the beginning of the Ghelsba Outpost there are a lot of Logging Points as well. Also the Flint Stones needed to make Wooden and Stone arrows can be found outside San off the Tunnel and Carrion Worms.

If you are chopping down trees for these then you better off buying them.
Should you still chopping trees? Yes, sometimes you end up with some rare logs, ie. Elm, chest nuts.... that really worth your time.

Worth making silver arrows? Yes. It's cheaper. Even if you fail several times it still skill up your woodworking skill. Worth the price.
Would it be worth to pratice mining and/or goldsmith and blacksmith to make iron/silver ingots/arrow heads? No. If you only make arrows then you better off study woodworking to it fullness. Unless, you want to make some armor/weapon for melee class or gain more money (or smiply for fun ^^), it's not worth the time and money to study both gold and blacksmith.
