  • Catching moat carp with no breaks?

is there a rod that you can use to catch moat carp that won't break besides lu shangs? I bought a 4k Carbon Fiber rod and it broke in East Sar. after about 10 fishing attempts. >< I was using insect balls as bait.

Also on the subject, which rod / bait combo will catch the greatest number of moat carp?

Check out this webpage, and never break another rod.

    For example:
A clothespole with insect paste in port san d'oria is safe ^^

Clothespole is safe but you't won't catch any carp, it's meant for big fish.

Most or at least some of the carp is big

I fish with a S.H rod and little worms in windurst waters ... no breaks
~yes but what happens if I run out of ideas I mean if no one can help me and i run out of ideas then what ?~

At least check the site before saying i'm wrong...

Clothespole with insect paste is a valid config in port san d'oria to get moat carps. may not be the best, but the rod won't break, which was the question.

I have used the clothespole with 2 stacks in insect bait in bastok markets w/o getting any fish. Got a couple catches that said the pole was too big. Switched to the yew rod, which will break, but immediately started catching moat carps. FYI.

IMO I don't think it's possible to have a rod that will catch often and not break. There is a built in risk you have to take, the smaller rod catches more, but can break. It keeps you from just buying one rod and making a lot of money. As cheap as yew rods are, they last usually a few stacks of bait before breaking, so it's not costing a lot if you're fishing on new/full moons.

And another question, if you have the sabaki rig and the pole breaks, do you lose the rig?

It's a great site and you're totally right it doesn't break, just that I've actually tried the clothespole/insect in game and never caught a moat carp with it, like azz says, pole is too big. I went back to just bringing a couple of cheapy rods when going for moats, yet to find or afford the right rod.

try composite/mithran + insect paste. i've caught dozens of stacks of carp with composite, only maybe 1/5 times do i get a "too small to be fished" I only fish at full moon/new moon though.

I can confirm that if your pole breaks, you lose your lure. Lost my sabiki rig last night in Selbina using a fastwater.

You can use a mithran rod...moat carps are probably the smallest fish it'll catch without ever getting a "the fish you were trying to catch is too small for this rod" message. It'll haul up all rusty and shouldn't break in fresh water.

I've never even had the line break in fresh water.

Mithran + Insect ball worked fairly well for me when I was fishing for Mithran.

The fisherman's rod DB is a wonderful resource for picking out your locations.

Just one comment...I have used the Glass Fiber rod at the Bastok Market waterway catching moat carp with pretty good success. Once my fishing level got to 6. (using insect ball for bait)

The other day I caught 3 dozen Moat Carp (along with a few dark bass and a couple buckets) before it finally broke.
