HQ & Goldsmithing Questions

  • HQ & Goldsmithing Questions

    I'm currently chugging along in goldsmithing (I hit 25 tonight, yay) and had a few questions. Sorry if these are a bit random.

    Is it possible to have a HQ combine on things like, say, brass ingots? Will fire crystal + zinc ore + 3 copper ore ever yield more than one brass ingot for me? Or put another way, are there just some combines that have no HQ/exceptional combine?

    Around 25, what's a good idea for a way to go with raising GS further? I found out two iron ingots too late that to make thieves tools I'll need to have carpentry and blacksmithing up, and I'm not even sure if it would be profitable (Will I just make 1 tool per combine? That seems terrible if so.) Should I do silver chains, and if so, should I keep those chains to use later? Is this just a point where I'm going to have to start throwing money at totally unprofitable things, like sardonyx earrings? (On my server, those go for around 1-2k max, silver ores are 300-400 minumum, beastcoins the same.) Or am I missing something?

    And when is it possible to start getting HQ/exceptional combines? On anything at all? Sorry if I seem impatient - I'm having a blast with goldsmithing and the game in general, but I try to find out as I can about these things while I do them.

    For some things, there can't be an exceptional/HQ counterpart to it. I know that I did something in weaving (have no idea what it was) that got the HQ animation and it was the same thing with no changes. >_>

      From what I have heard the HQ counterpart for Ingots are merely multiple ingots from a single craft, hope that helps answer your question.

      Oh and thf tools recipe is for 6, so take your costs and double it and compare to sell price to see how much you would lose cash wise

        HQ synthesis is possible as soon as you can make the item and the farther you level your skill the more your HQ chance gets.
        For instance when i was at the point in cooking where i was making fish broth out of 2 bluetail + water crystal. I got a HQ and HQ2 synthesis from just my normal skill leveling.
        I'm currently at 54 and making mulsum to level my cooking. honey(for making the mulsum) is level 12 and i get HQ on it maybe 20-25% of the time.

        just for the heck of it i used a stack of water crystals on carrot broth(level 3) and got 4x normal, 4x HQ, 2x HQ2, 2x HQ3
