Moon effects too severe? (Fishing)

Anyone else think that the current moon effects on fishing are too severe?

I was lucky enough to catch the last 2 hours of the new moon today. Fishing in Wind.Walls I was getting bites almost 80% of my casts. Now that the new moon is over I see about 6 bites and 2 fish caught per hour. That’s just sad.

I don’t mind that the moon gives a bonus to fishing, but the skill should not totally be crippled when the moon is not in alignment. Right now it’s not even worth fishing unless you can plan your play time around the moon.

Yeah I’m whining, but I wanted to take some time away from leveling to do crafts for awhile.. fishing was all I could afford to do. Sucks when you can only fish every other day for a couple hours when you’re lucky enough to get a good moon alignment.

You also have to remember that other things affect fishing aside from the moon phases. Weather, time of day and location play a huge factor as well. Actually fishing in FFXI is very closely modeled after fishing in RL.

fish in rl really base wether or not there gonna bite a worm depending most heavily on the moon?

i mean i could definatly see time of day weather, but then i think about how ffxi also bases it on day of the week and that's yet another facter that doesn't determine wether or not fish in r/l bite
