  • Fishing: Making Insect Ball Bait

I have looked on many websites, and searched all over and I have yet to find the crafting formula for making Insect Ball bait.

I have seen people do it in game, so there is a formula somewhere....

The cooking level I can not verify, but the formula kelsam provided is exactly what I got from a Japanese player when I asked for the recipe.

Yes I can now confirm that is the recipie.

You need cooking lvl 25-30, however.

Oh well, cooking is a good one to level up anyway!

Seems like it is hardly worth it as you can buy a stack of 12 for 300 at most AHs. Between the space required to stock all those ingriedents and the expense, you are better off just buying them.

Yeah if your ah has them

I've been testing these out a bit. At 11 fishing I find I average 4 or so moat carp per 12 little worms, or something like 6 or so moat carp per 12 insect balls. However, I also find that with the lil worms I also may catch several crayfish and dark bass depending on where I am. The crayfish sell for a 12 stack for about 900 gil, the lil worms are cheap, I can use a wind crystal to make peeled crayfish (my cooking is now above one from that )

So I'll probably experimient more when the AH has them but I can't see much reason for insect balls outside of a few more carp in the time you fish, possibly.

While using the lil worm, I just caught my first gold carp in a windurst zone, never caught one before

I was expermenting with the peeled crayfish in the large lake in East Sarub, specifically the big end of it with the lil island where you see real big fish in the water. I had several bites where I caught nothing and then one where It said I lacked the skill. I've never seen that message before fishing. Since the peeled crayfish, as well as that lake, are supposed to be for Monke-Onke I'm guessing that was the fish. So I stuck my 30 odd peeled crayfish in the bank until later I guess... think I'll look at the trivial fishing chart again.

                    Kind of Stuck

Stuck at 14 fishing. I fished some sabiki in port windhurst and some crayfish/carp till around lvl 10 and then went to Selbina to catch greedies. It was really slow going...

I wanted to raise my cooking and this happens to be fairly effective since a lot of the starting recipes involve these fish (including carving them).

Not sure where to go now though.. Any suggestions?
