  • Question about skill raising.

As for as I know, the more successful items you made, the more chance for you to gain skill points. However, does it matter what level is the item? Say can I repeatedly make level 0 item while my skill is at 30 and still get the same gain percentage as making level 33 items(using guild NPC's buff) on successful attempt?

    Anyone knows?

Each item seems to have a level range, where you can gain skillups from it.

Once you go beyond that, it becomes "trivial" in a sense (to borrow an Everquest term), and you won't gain in that school if you continue making it.

For example, you might be able to gain skillups from making Pickaxes until Blacksmithing reaches 5 or 6. After that, you'll notice you don't get skill increases anymore, and you'll have to move on to something harder.

Even though this list is somewhat out of date, it's still pretty accurate, and should give you an idea of what level range items are :

(you've probably this Tradeskill FAQ elsewhere. It's pretty common)

    *edit*
Also, I should add about making "+1" items (also known as HQ items - High Quality). Whenever you make weapons, armor, or anything capable of being HQ, you have a very small chance to get a HQ item. Basically, in order to have a decent chance, the item has to be trivial to you. So, for instance, you're hoping to make a Longbow+1. Your chances are pretty slim if your Woodworking is in the 11-15 range. If you have 15 or 16, you might have a chance at making one. If your woodworking is 34, for example, you have a much better chance.
That seems to be the case, anyways.
