No only certain items can be broken down and the items that make that item arent all given back. Like for instance, you can use a wax sword (made with Bronze sword and beeswax) and break it down with lightning crystal and it will give you only an ingot or something (not sure if this is completely true but everytime i did it i only got a bronze ingot. You may get more as lvl goes higher).

for the yagudo necklace issue. you use a wind crystal (carving effect) and you get 3 spools of grass thread. just another way to kickstart cloth crafting which i'm sure many already know.

being a Dark Knight, i dont plan on weaving anything much, but decided to break down the tonnes of yagudo necklaces i accumulated back in saruta days to make way for stackable thread/cloth.

wind crystal + yagudo necklace = 3 spools of grass thread

earth crystal + 3 spools of grass thread = 1 square of grass cloth

so on so forth

Wait, you mean you can break items with a Lightning Crystal?

What other item can you split like that? I assume Goblin Helms and the like are breakable too?...

There's a little more to the mechanics of how you can break stuff down. For example a golbin helm if you use wind crystal (Carve) you cut out a sheet of sheep leather from it. Lightning will reverse it too but not sure yet what it makes cause my craft isn't high enough.

I've also broken down items in many other ways, a wax sword with a water crystal has gotten me a bronze sword. Lightning has gotten me a bronze ingot.

From what I can tell you can break down items to a certain point by using the opposing crystal element to what used to make it. Sometimes though you really just have to think about the item and basically what are you doing to it if you heat, dissolve, decay, carve, split, etc.. to it.

The items you get from Beastmen (Quadav, Yaguado, Orcs, Goblins, Giants and any others) can be broken down to raw materials used for crafting. Thats basically their only purpose besides some quests. Just try different combinations and such to see what you can get. It may take a few times however because you need a decent lvl to do some of the break downs.
