Found out what's causing the down time, It will be fixed by tomorrow, but it was just as suspected. Aggressive database backup on the server was causing outages to serving the pages and reading the DB.

Hey guys, the Amazon Cloud was pulled (cancelled using it) soon after it was used due to instability from it. I've been noticing down times on my other sites as well, I thought it was limited to just them, but I'll look into this further. I believe there's too aggressive of a backup process that's happening on the server.

When did the forums get ported to amazon cloud? Has ping gone?

PiNG is still around from time to time; as far as I know, he's the one that ported the server over to the cloud. I only know because I happened to be online and chatting with him when he was doing it a while back (1.5-2 years ago? Something like that...).

I usually lose access to the site between 0600-1500 BST. it happens consistently every day.

I always thought that whenever the site never loaded, it was because of my Internet connection (it's pretty awful).

This forum has always had down time around that time, especially after the server was migrated to the Amazon EC2 cloud.

I have some weird problems accessing the forum/site and it's not consistent in the time range. But it has happened consecutively for a few weeks now. Anytime after midnight PST, but probably closer to around 1am to 2am PST (4am to 5am EST+DST), there is what appears to be immense traffic passing through the site or the host. There is an indication that there are attempts to connect to the site/forum, but in the end I get the standard message that the site is unavailable. It tends to free up a few hours later.

Is the forum/site shut down a few hours every night to back it up?
