What else is it supposed to be? Sometimes I need a little bit of mindlessly bashing the O button to beat the shit out of something.

all the Melee technical mumbo jumbo doesn't matter. Brawl is completely better, mew.

Yes, technical details matter not where opinion is concerned.

J9, this is what you're getting for Christmas:

Only if you like your fighters not only incredibly unbalanced, but also shallow.

@BBQ: I, too, would like to see the source of this claim. Not that it changes much of anything, but it seems farfetched that someone from Nintendo would come out and say that.

Brawl is not shallow, mew! It has lots of items and diversity! Character victories are still player skill based! And has a much deeper adventure mode that supports co-op!

It was something I caught on Wii IGN the other week, but strangely, I can't seem to find it now. They frontpage things so strangely over there.

Granted, what I recall reading was that it was Melee's director that felt that way about the two games. Take it for what you will. Its clearly the hardcore fans feel that way, too, otherwise there wouldn't be the Brawl + mods and nobody playing Brawl online.

Brawl is dead online, at least for random matches.

I think I just found it. Looks like he openly admitted Melee was geared towards hardcore gamers and Brawl wasn't. (Also went on to confess that there probably won't be another Smash similar to Melee, so I guess the hardcore gamers are fucked.)

Back to Dissidia - I borrowed it from someone but lost interest quickly. I found the characters to be too watered down at Level 1, and I disliked the fact that there was a grind in the first place. I wasn't expecting it to be a conventional fighter or anything, but hell, I play non-RPG games precisely to get away from their silly grinds.

It was nice to see old and forgotten characters reimagined and with voices though.

The ability growith is actually pretty fast, its just the movelists are set to be rather limited so no one character has too much over the other, but for many characters it really branches out. You can bring most characters to level 50 just doing their main story and the second campaign, the problem being all of the Chaos side doesn't get the same kind of love the heroes do in the form of a story-driven campaign centered around them.

I expect a repeat of that in the sequel, but to be fair, the baddies would just be musing about the void, darkness and the end of the world. If I want all that to here and back, just let Keith David do it as Chaos.

I am glad to hear Firion got toned down a little, but the Emperor needs some work, too, because Kefka, Exdeath, Golbez and Ultemecia have a more fun trapping game than he does and that's supposed to be The Emperor's specialty. Instead, he just seems to exist to cheese you til you can kill him.

If they're going foward with FFV and FFVI on 3DS, I really would like to see the guy doing Kefka there make it over. He sounds Kefka enough without steering too close to Mark Hamill's Joker.

That aside, the really do need to expand the variety of voice clips for combat, they get just a tad too repetitive

Contrary to what you may think, you can't spam Shoryukens back to back and win*.

Also, I agree that the Kefka VA is great stuff.
