Re: White Knight Chronicles International! like an mmorpg, but free!
People can't even play online until they complete the first part of the Story. I would say they encourage discovering the full story first. They eventually give to option to play online, but it's only practical that if people don't want to be overpowered during the story playthrough, they'll take care of that first before jumping online (either that or they'll just make a new character for a New Game if they want to keep the story difficulty normal instead of too easy.)
I'm so glad the "mechs" in this rpg are POWERFUL. If it looks powerful and all these great things are said about them,
then they should FEEL powerful! the Gears in Xenogears and the E.S. in Xenosaga feel weak compared to this.
It's a refreshing change to feel powerful when using a 30 feet tall mech in an rpg. It's fun!
It's still far better than the thousands of JRPGs that are only centered around premade characters. It isn't about the feature being unique. It's about being there in the first place for those that love that stuff. Also FFXI doesn't really compare with it, because that's online only. So it's virtually unplayable to people who can't pay or don't have online, whereas WKC provides
character creation an a mmorpg gameplay flavor right in its single player story, while still providing a very good online multiplayer mode. I'm not saying it's better than FFXI, just that what FFXI did with avatars in cutscenes means very little to
players that play WKC for the single player. I know people who enjoyed PSO even though they couldn't play online, which was the "point" of the game, unlike PSO though, WKC has a full story that could stand as its own game! Of course the Quests are very hard solo and meant for online, but still, this subject is just better off not mentioning FFXI since they are still different genres. FFXI is used for a more deeper online experience, and WKC offers a cinematic JRPG-epic story, while also having light but dedicated online features too.
It's up to them, but I'm just saying if they complain about the story being easier because of their built up character online,
they have no one to blame but themselves for making the story 10x easier. If they want a more moderate difficulty level, they should just start a New Game with a fresh character if they want to play the story without being levels beyond what the story enemies are designed for. Some people buy it for the online, others for the story, others for both.
Some play the story first before going online, others will play the story when they are tired of online or they don't have internet at the moment. In any case I was just pointing out some options if people want to maintain the story difficulty at
a decent level.
But if they just jump online and then later complain the story is 100x too easy if they decide to play through it, well it's common sense it's their own fault. The parts that are easy even with a fresh characters, those are intentional, since the Knight Arks are as powerful as legend said they would be. It's good the gameplay translates their power much better than the summons in FF games where it's like "Oh, you can summon Bahamut, the KING of dragons, but his attack can't even destroy a fat guy named Palmer in one hit."
That's because you are so busy with your own self-centered opinions to understand and accept different tastes and different tolerances.
Just the opposite, the game encourages online play right from the start. Why are you giving access to quests and told about online gameplay if they are encouraging you to play after you beat the game? That makes no sense at all.
Yes the story is easy and I'm sure if you just go through playing without any extra leveling, it might actually give it more challenge. As it is, I rarely used my Knight ability in boss battles. If I did, 3 hits and the boss was dead.....wtf..

5) It's not like creating and using your own avatar is unique. Even seeing it in cut scenes isn't unique...FFXI? It's just that the interaction is a bit wooden and a little grunting would have made it a tad better at the very least.

6) You keep harping that the game isn't too easy if you don't utilize the online content until after you beat the game. Thats just silly. Its one of the reasons people buy the game. I guarantee that some people look at it as the same old jrpg crap but then see the online content and the Georama aspects and decide to take a chance. So now you are telling people that the option that interested them in the game, they should not bother playing with until after beating the game.....seriously?

Considering how they can change dynamics of the game on a whim, I'll wait for confirmation from the developer before jumping the gun.
