I'm thinking about picking up the first game and give it a try, since GW has pretty much the same Trial policy as XI. And $29.99 isn't much anyway, so might as well give it a try and take a little break from XI.

That and/or get XII and spend the next month with my BRD stucked at lvl 55.

I only played the beta back in 04'. Sometimes I'm tempted to pick it up, since there is no monthly fee, but I'd really rather play with friends. And I don't have any that play Guild Wars.

Honestly, I'd play any MMO if I had a few people to play it with. Even older ones. :/

Hmm, a friend is telling me I should give Guild Wars a try. Has anyone played that one?

Ah ok. Well, I think the servers for the beta was Australia and the US together (though I couldn't run it very well back then). We'll see, thanks heaps guys. =)

i can (check your PM), but since you are in auz-land, i'm not sure if we'll even be placed in the same group of servers.

    Champion - Melee DPS

    Hunter - Ranged DPS

    Guardian - Main Tank

    Minstrel - Main Healer

Burglar - Crowd Control, and Conjunction starter (conjunctions are a combination of skills that players can use to damage the enemy, buff the party, or something in between).

Captain - Support via Buffs. Can do light DPS, some off-tanking, some CC (via off tanking). Pet Class

Loremaster - Support and Crowd Control. Pet Class.

edit: Don't get me wrong. It's a fun game that is easy to get into, and should provide some fun for you if you don't play very often. It just wasn't the game for me.

Cool, do you think I could get a trial pass and come join you Neighbortaru? Is there a place to download the thing? I'd appreciate it greatly.

Also, can you just explain the roles of each class? I mean... just a general thing like "support, tank, etc"

well i think it's fun. i didn't burn through the levels as fast as murphie, so i'm still really into it. i do find it more engaging than WoW and the atmosphere is "better."

and if murphie doesn't have his trial pass, i think they sent me one via email.

I think I might have a trial pass still.

    edit: I do. It's a 10 day trial pass.

So neighbortaru, do you think it'd be worth playing then? What are you play hours? I'd probably only have a few hours a day, but maybe not every day.

Also, are there buddy passes or a trial I can try out?

    Re: Lotr Mmorpg

Well, I'd play for a few hours each day, or every other day. Admittedly, I didn't really do any crafting (save for processing the ore and wood that I found and putting it on the AH), but I didn't spend every moment grinding or anything like that.

So maybe "barely played" isn't the right way of putting it. But I certainly wasn't trying to level really fast. There were people in my guild that dinged 50 several days before I did. Even if it had taken me the full 30 days of my trial, that was still too fast to be reaching endgame in an MMO.

that's unbelievable! i've been two weeks on my burglar (solo and party) and i'm still 21. your barely play and my barely play must be really different

Nothing. I barely played and I hit 50. Totally solo (since no one likes to party with captains). I was going to stick with it, but it really rubbed me the wrong way that I was able to level so fast without even trying to level fast.

Well that's fair enough. I guess I'll just stick with WoW until I find something better.

Ever since I left FFXI, I haven't been able to find my place in any game. WoW I found friends (due to real life friends also playing it), but now that I have 2 characters at level 40 I am finding it hard to progress without getting bored.
