I finally got it imported and I've officially given up XI for this game. Say what you will about too easy or clones of WoW or etc, this game is beautiful, the atmosphere is amazing, the people are nicer and it's just all around more enjoyable. I felt nearly heart-broken at Amdir's fate... the Old Forest scares me to death.. and the Nazgul freak me the hell out. Emotions XI never once evoked in me.

Not standing in one spot for 8 hours hitting macro buttons playing pussy with monsters while someone is bait and I hide in corners... but instead being drawn into the story and lives of the characters through the quests is enjoyable enough, even if I wasn't netting exp for it.

Considering how even at the end of the current content they're nowhere near through the 'book storyline', hell Rohan and Gondor don't even exist as places to go yet, and they just released Shores of Everdim, this game has years in it and who's to say what Endgame will be or won't be? (not that I care, hate endgame, in it for the story and atmosphere, myself) Final Level cap? Dunno that either. Can't say as I care as that is of mediocre interest to me. I've only been on my nice, shiny EU server a couple of weeks, but I'm still only 24 at highest. I have 5 characters and I do use them all. Next highest is only 19. Maybe it's because I'm on the RP server and am taking a very relaxed pace of it, but I'm not finding this game any quicker to level in than XI.

It might seem that way because you're actually enjoying the level grind... and 'enjoy' and 'level' for most XI-ites is almost a blasphemous combination of words it seems. Some people react to it as if it's a sin. Which confuses me, but okay.

All in all, I think it's simply more fun. Period. The end. I don't care how 'easy' or 'short' some people may or may not say it is. (Not talking about Murphie, I'm talking about other people, other threads, other places.) If I'm enjoying it, and I am, more than any game I have played in years... then it's alright by me.

Hey guys. Woah, I'm surprised by the amount of interest this thread generated. I ended up not getting the pre-order (prolly lost my Founders privilege and character). I ran into some money problems. ): But I was like Murphy. I could have prolly hit 50 in 3 weeks after beta ended and there didn't seem to be enough endgame content.

Anyway, I'm in Eve Online now. It's not really my type of game (too much pvp), but it's sci-fi based. The graphics engine is as old as or older than FFXI. But, it's cheaper. d:

Well, I haven't had too much time to play it, but I ended up getting a Dwarf Guardian to level 10 so far (as I did in open beta). I still have a few days left on my trial, but so far nothing has really hooked me in.

I appreciate that they are trying to stick with the lore as much as possible, but when compared to some other MMO's out there, the classes are kind of boring (i.e. no real magic). Not saying it's their fault, just a bit boring for me. Beautiful graphics and solid gameplay though.

I guess the overall mood and feel of the game is lacking for me, and I'm not really into role playing.

Kind of fun. The various skills are grouped. So, for instance, if you're an Explorer (which is what I was), you have Tailoring (making cloth and leather items), Foresting (logging), and Prospecting (mining) that you can level.

You start at Apprentice level. You gain skill by crafting items (or refining raw materials you find), until you unlock the next tier, meaning you can access higher tiers of materials and recipes. But you can also go back and master your Apprentice level, which gives you a higher chance to crit when making an item or processing a raw material (for instance, you might get three ingots out of one ore, or something).

For an overview from LOTRO itself, you can check here.

    Those screenshots look nice Ome-
I still dont know if I want to pay 49.99 to try this game out though. For those that have been playing, how is the crafting system?

At the moment I just logged on anywhere and made a human champion. I think I'll make a dwarf guardian though. But I am very pleased that I can run this on ultra high settings with 4x anti-aliasing very smoothly at 1600x1050 resolution. I took some pictures if anyone wants to see.

I zipped them up and you can download them here:

I'll be interested to hear another perspective on the game. What class are you thinking of going for?

I kinda felt the same about 12, but I ended up beating it, and liking the ending. to me, the ending made up for the rest of the game.

By the way, Murphie, you're avatar really makes me want to play it again. lol... Basche rocked!

You can give GW's a try. I got really bored of it in the first week.
