When you have completely deranged people at the highest power positions and people with good reason at the lowest this is what happens.

But looking at the big picture, if everything goes out of control and that microscopic minority is able to wipe humankind from the face of the earth, it'll mean we just weren't fit enough as a species. Considering how huge the universe is and how many species have existed and will exist till the end of time, as we are today we are barely worth a very small footnote in the history of the universe. Just another pitiful species that didn't make it.

So for all the conspiracies and power struggles in the end it wont really matter at all. That's how small we are, and until we as a species are able to understand and accept that we will remain as an insignificant spec in the vastness of space and time.

Though Iran's stance on homosexuality is obviously deplorable, transexuality is not only legal there, but the government would apparently subsidize your reassignment procedure.

I think its because they believe it conforms to their narrative that homosexuality can be fixed and doesn't exist in Iran. Its not true, of course, because sexuality, sex and gender identity are three different things and hormones can actually change the balance on sexuality, but its not guaranteed. Some transwomen are are still attracted to women when all is said and done.

But hey, Sharia law takes care of all women that don't fall in line. With rocks.

The difference being that I don't actually advocate that as US foreign policy. I tend to agree with Raydeus that the US needs to get the fuck out of other countries and stop trying to impose its culture everywhere.

It's exactly that attitude that makes people around the world hate the US. The Government and the elites brainwash the US sheeple there to support a war for their interests and the stupid ignorant endoctrinated US sheeple actually think they are "fixing" the world in doing so.
