Does Florida count as the South? Because it's pretty bad down here, too, although for some different reasons than the ones listed in this thread.

Not really. Florida is mostly Cubans and Haitians now. The only real south is Mississippi and Alabama. And [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS7RGuLt63k"]YouTube - alabama man[/ame] is how they act over there.

I disagree with how they're handling this, but I don't hold their faith against them. I also just get nervous when the same adjectives are applied to God over and over again. Almighty God this, Almighty God that. Sounds like those people that feign religious belief, glare at the preacher for not wrapping things up in time for lunch buffet across the street and hold their hands in the air during the praise and worship section. Its creepy and insincere.

You want to thank God like football players thank God over some homeland security reports? Fine, do it out loud, but don't make laws that require it. We're not supposed to be making laws that endorse a religion, at the same time, we shouldn't be discouraging toward people of faith.

Also, let's not take any swipes at the south. You don't live there and don't know how people live there. Besides, you freaks up north don't drink sweet tea

Finally, there are lots of stupid laws on the books that don't need to be there. Thing is - kinda like MMORPG updates - there are sometimes bigger fish to fry before getting down to other fixes. I know a college town that limits how many women live in a house together, otherwise its deemed a brothel.

Its still on the books, I kid you not. We're well past 1887 here. You'd think they would have gotten around to that, but no, its still there. And enforced.

Do you realize what a hell that turns a student union into. There's like this wave of estrogen you have to go through just to get to some of your student clubs, man. Not that I'm completely complaining here, but its never fun to be that outnumbered.

Give them their sorority houses, please just do it. It won't be a brothel, I promise you. Besides, its not like fraternities actually do anything, 90% of the greek system's public service is done by sororities anyway.

Of course it's unconstitutional. Some state constitutions require you to be religious to serve in government; or even have basic legal rights. They're invalid, and have been for a very long time. If this were taken to any sane court, it would be overruled pretty much instantly.

The truly sad thing is the way these bills can be altered like this. It's a no-win scenario. Either you vote for a wholly unconstitutional, and frankly unamerican, part of the legislation, or you don't vote for it at all. And then when you're up for reelection, you're not the guy who stood up for the constitution, you're the guy who voted against protecting families. Worse yet, you might even be the guy who voted against god!

Anti-Terror Law Requires God to be Acknowledged


Sorry what? There's a state law somewhere that requires people acknowledge and accept a god? Something that, last I checked, was explicitly forbidden by the American Constitution in it's first amendment. And this isn't another case of someone who is anti-religion spouting off about religion; this is a case of someone who sees how this country has run so far off track that it's saddening spouting off about another fucked up law (waste of taxpayer money) that people have created.

Please, believe in whatever you choose to believe in, but keep your religious/spiritual beliefs inside your home or church, not inside our legislator.

p.s. Prime example of why i don't live in the south. (j/k... or am I?)
