Let's remember that DiV is the admins hobby and not their job. They are currently having a very busy agenda irl and haven't had time to administer to the site. They are aware of your concerns and will try to figure something out for the future I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure that's just it. Which means someone on top . . . is being lazy!

So, what exactly is a Premier site btw?

Is there some kind of requirement other than replying to SE's mails and assisting to their events? Because if it's just that then the site admins probably don't fulfill the requirements even though the site has a good traffic volume. /shrug

Thanks YM, I am at work and couldn't get to Wiki for link.

There is actually a lot of good info in there. I like the last group of storyline questions the best. Kind of nice to hear about some of the things going on that aren't mainstream.

I noted this too, and am concerned.

From what I read on FFXIwiki, DiV was invited, but didn't respond to the invitation. It was also noted that DiV was the only Premier Site that was not in attendance.

Well, obviously the likes of Warcry, FFXI Vault, and FFXI Stratics must have many more posters and players than DiV! Either that, or the site operators respond to e-mail from S-E in a more timely manner or something.

Maybe S-E just prefers to deal with professionals--even if the professionals put up ads to competing MMORPGs all over their FFXI portals. >_>

Thank you, Rianon, it is nice to see something not related to AV. Your surprisingly on-topic post is refreshing.

Which brings me to my next point, who are we to blame for this?

The fact there's an artificial restriction placed on it by S-E which ensures it takes ridiculously longer to master the encounter doesn't detract from the fact 18 hours is a fucking insane amount of time to sit at a computer, it's simply not healthy. And, if the timer was reduced to every one or two days you'd still get whole linkshells of people ready and willing to attempt it every moment they could.

Yes, that's the person's choice yada yada. Argue all you like for the individual's right to live the second lifestyle but any realistic and honest person is going to choose the former over the latter.
So a single fight that happens once every few weeks where people normally come and go during the middle of it suddenly means anyone involved with it spends 18 hours a day, every day, playing the game?

I spent most of sunday, a good 7 hours, on one fight in this game. You know what I did the next day? Nothing. Didn't even bother playing. And if I had a chance to beat AV, and had the free time to fight him, I'd stay there as long as I could. I'm not living on welfare or socially dysfunctional or overweight (though I do eat a lot of crap food, but that's cause it tastes good), but I'd still have no problem blowing a day fighting this guy...if we had a chance to win at least (hell, even if we didn't I'd prolly still stick around).

Fighting AV is an event, it's a massive undertaking that doesn't happen often. And this fight doesn't change the fact that the little disclaimer every time you log in is just as meaningful as it ever was. Just because you spend one day fighting a 20 hour fight doesn't mean you spend every day doing the same.

Ah, you have to love it. Everyone who doesn't have time to do it decrying those who do as having no life.

Go ahead and say the drops probably aren't worth it anyway, its the only thing missing from each little whine.

18 hours isn't a measure of skill, it's a measure of endurance and, to a lesser degree, just how little value your life has.
