    Re: Are You A Belieber?

Yes and my point is that out of the very few that carry their career over into their adult lives a good percentage of them have serious issues, which leaves a very very small percentage. Is it really worth taking the gamble with a childs life to try and hit that very small percentage and if you don't hit it, you'll end up with a damaged child that leads a troubled life? Screw that, I'd rather have a happy healthy normal child than be rolling in money and being dazzled by stardom and all it brings.

    Yes, but still successful.

Its not like the lot of them are the boat Lindsey Lohan willingly finds herself in. She is not successful anymore, she loses success on a daily basis now.

Micheal Jackson (aside from that whole creepy pedo thing, he has maintained success, even post-mortem)
    Justin Timberlake
    Donnie and Marie
Beyonce, though daddy pretty much made her a star at the expense of other talented people.
The Beatles. They had teen girls screaming over them, don't deny.
Pink is off the radar, but hasn't fallen into failure.
U2 - they did start out in their teens, girls went wild for Bono and Larry.

And Shakira, she's been at this 20 years now, since she was 13.

I wanted to say Bobby Brown, but he started his path to failure during adulthood and took Whitney Houston down with him. Or was it the other way around? Can't say for sure. They're both too coked up to care, most likely.

I hate the thought of him being exploited the way he is. That CHILD should be in a regular school with friends, playing soccer, being shy with girls, and getting into the trouble that kids do. But you have parents and publicists that are plastering him all over the tv, magazines, radio, etc and there is no way for him to have a normal childhood....all in the name of the almighty dollar. It sickens me.

As for talent, its amazing what you can do in the studio with mixing equipment. I saw his acting and it wasn't anything to write home about. I'll be honest, I don't listen to his music and have never heard him sing A cappella but I highly doubt his voice is anything but average for a singer. They are just playing the "how much money can we squeeze out of this kid before he's worthless" game. How many teenie bopper stars, out of the thousands there have been, can you name that have had a successful career in their adult lives?

You know, I thought back on this topic and I still think all the rage toward this kid is mostly unfounded. He'll either go away or go the way of Justin Timberlake and be someone you'll just have to accept being around.

I think such rage is better directed at the human waste that is the cast of Jersey Shore.

I don't even know a thing about any of the cast, never heard them speak - much like Bieber - and yet, just based off the magazine covers of them I see at the checkout line, they all seem like people I'd watch to punch in the face.

Its not a description I commonly issue to people: "someone you'd want to punch in the face." And yet, I find that to be the first appropriate response to looking at them. I'm not a violent man, they just need to be punched. All of them. I mean, I don't even live in New Jersey, but I know they have this reputation and these guys aren't helping. We could all help New Jersey by finding these guys and just giving them the walloping they were born to deserve.

Especially this Mike guy, if I see his vacant, soulless stare and shit-eating grin one more time...

My first exposure to Justin Beiber was that he was on TV; seriously, I thought it was just a novelty act because nobody with such a pre-pubescent voice could possibly be famous, right?

Well, I was wrong. A family friend's daughter put me on her Facebook and, before I knew it, my Newsfeed was being flooded by Justin Beiber love. I had to filter her for that.

It's not that I actually hate him. Just rather not see any of his work or listen to any of his music because to me he isn't fun nor entertaining. Just plain retarded.

It's like drinking or smoking, if others want to do it it's their choice, but there's no chance in hell I'll join them.

Cause he actually has talent and he got older. Hating him got played out.

Beiber gets props from a lot of respected and talented artists in the industry such as Usher and Ludacris (and also props from people that other people love to hate, such as Diddy).

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the kid, no drug scandals, no immaturity, no drinking problems. He just likes to dance and sing and have a good time.

Why can't we all just accept that and enjoy some music that was made to be enjoyable?

Next thing I know, ya'll will be hating on Willow Smith *sigh*

So has the kid actually done anything "bad" or something? I'm generally curious to be honest, because so far the very limited stuff I've seen of him has caused me to give him some actual respect. Dealing with being trolled by 4chan, getting hit in the head on stage with something in the middle of a show and this dance off with Shaq, it seems like the kid can roll with the punches and not throw hissy fits or tantrums when things go bad like a lot of other kids stars.

Is he actually a douche or something behind the scenes though? Cause if so I can understand the hate. As lame as it is to say, my opinions of certain celebrities can be tainted or enhanced based on how they act "behind the scenes". If this kids actually a jackass then I can understand the hate, but if it's just cause he's a pretty faced teeny bopper, well that's just being silly then.

I wasn't aware I was defending him. I'm pretty sure he's no Paul, John or Ringo. I just see no value in investing hatred toward him.

Shaq, however, decimated one of my favorite superheros, so i think he's fair game. Yes, I know Steel is just the DC version of Tony Stark, but he was classy in his own way. Until Shaq played him, anyway.
