      Re: 80's cartoons

Oh god, I am such a fangirl. There are probably more but:

Tundercats - watched some recently, I had forgotten how creepy all the voices for the adult femals were. Sort of baritone level and with what I think the actors thought was an English accent.
      He man and She Ra
      Trapdoor - I loved Berk
Bertha - I need this one dvd
Ulysses 31 - the scariest kids show ever
Jace and the wheeled warriors - think back and imagine trying to get this made now? We want to make a cartoon about a boy and a plant girl and her flying magic fish with a hans solo clone, merlin the wizard and we want them fighting monster truck plants!
Mysterious Cities of gold - need to find this one
      Count Duckula
      Galaxy High
Mighty Max - I was a bit old for this but I loved Norman so much
Captain Planet - saw this recently to, it was cringe worthy
      Dungeons and Dragons
      Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
      Fraggle Rock
      Bravestar
      Chip n Dale
      Gummi Bears
      Whacky Races
Jem - I am a girl leave me alone ><
      Inspector Gadget
      Ducktails
Rainbow Bright - friend got a few episodes on video recently, it's close behind Ulysses for creepyness value
      Telebugs
      The Wuzzles
Sharkey and George - the crime busters of the sea
      Button Moon
      The Herbs
      The Clangers
The one where the main characters were white blood cells and they lived in a little boy that I can't remember the name of.

I was singing themesongs writing this ><

I tried looking for that huge 80's cartoons' openings thread we had a while back. That one had lots of good stuff.

Other than TMNT and the Road Runner (and some other Looney Toons stuff) I pretty much hated cartoons till I found Anime, Saint Seiya really changed my life .

(Edit> Although I watched Saint Seiya in the early 90's so I guess it doesnt count eh?)

                    Re: 80's cartoons

                    OMFG

                    Robotech
Centurions (not 80s, but I loved this as a kid.)

Wow.. I'm not an 80s kid, but pretty much anything on the original programming of Cartoon Network, like:

                    SWAT Kats: Radical Squadron
                    Dragonball (1986-1989. Definitely counts)
He-Man and the Masters of The Universe

                    OH!
Conan the Barbarian(I think that's it. The show where the guy had the Sun Sword)
                    The Herculoids
                    Birdman
The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest (lolQuestworld)
                    Speed Racer
                    Space Ghost
                    Top Cat
                    Underdog
                    Voltron
                    Hong Kong Fooey . . .

                    And while I'm here
                    Freakazoid.

It was rough excluding everything that came out in the 2000s. There were so many enjoyable shows on Cartoon Network. Now they have crap like Camp Lazlo and other infantile bathroom humor series that cater to the grotesque.

I remember turning on the TV when I came home from college while me and a friend (who had been away overseas for 2 years with the Military) were shooting the breeze.

After 15 minutes, he was like, "Who killed Cartoon Network?"

                      Re: 80's cartoons

I thought it was only american cartoons, but if Anime is allowed then Macross is 80's number one in my list even if it was the butchered Robotech project that I saw at first.

Robotech and SWAT Kats were me and my friend's FAVORITE shows.

I still get chills thinking about episode 49, the final battle against the Zentrati.

Pure, Utter Blasphemy! How dare you talk against the comedic genius that is Camp Lazlo!

I don't think Cartoon Network is "dead" in any sense, but I agree these new cartoons nowadays can't keep up with what we had in our generation. But all of them aren't bad. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, My Gym Partner Is A Monkey, etc. are fantastic. Although, old school Cartoon Network was better.

While we're on the subject, who misses old Nickelodeon?

Damn, that's bringing back some memories. You gotta be a major 90s kid to remember those, lol. Nickelodeon is a dead station imo, the new All That was horrible, the cast wasn't funny and the humor was forced.

Besides Fairly Odd Parents, Jimmy Neutron, and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, I really don't watch it anymore...because of crap like Zoey 101, Lil JJ and Unfabulous
