Re: New Computer Configuration
And seriously, as I said on the last page, if your main focus is playing FFXI, then paying for top of the line everything is so silly.

Re: New Computer Configuration
Well from a purely geek point of view, I'd get the top of the line everything every damn year if the logical old side of me didn't take over. LOL New gadgets, more toys, lots of power <insert male grunting noises here since I can't make them lol> is always in the back of my mind. I bought a $6000 15 pound laptop so I could play any games I wanted to on it......seriously I don't know how the hell I got this one past my husband either but I do regret it now.
I can understand the draw of doing it and IF you have the CASH to do it then more power to you. If you are putting any computer on a loan or a credit card, slap yourself because then you do NOT need it. A computer that depreciates so quickly is not something to be paying on for over 10 years.

Normally I dont like Asus, but I am interested in how this system runs, it has nice specs, and plenty of ram. The video card is not to bad... but I am worryed as to the quality of the parts used, due to the price.

Re: New Computer Configuration
I really really like mobility and yeah we already are getting a desktop, My husband know's a lot about computers he's been building them since he can remember. I on the other hand know nothing >.> lol he picked this one out for me. Anyway we are getting a huge desktop from what he''s told me it has like (keep in mind this is my dumafied version xD) it has a huge fan 8GB of Ram, (not sure on the HDD space but huge probably) It glows in the dark, it has 2 of the best Graphics cards you can buy (totaling at about 1,199.99 for both of them) and he has a monitor that has ummm 4 screens in it lol........ that is all I know but I know there is more if I can find the links i'll post them =) but from what he told me he said its godly and for it all together its about 4G's in RL money x.xOriginally posted by Murphie View PostHonestly, you'd be hard pressed to buy a new computer today, laptop or otherwise, that would have any problems running FFXI. The game is several years old, after all.
Though personally I feel that if you're going to buy a laptop that large, you may as well just get a desktop.
So all in all I dont really need to get one lol I mean I could just use his desktop when he gets it. I love moving around the house so I prefer laptops I know i'm just a n00b but its what I like =)Last edited by Luna; 04-29-2008, 02:24 AM.

Re: New Computer Configuration
Uh, that's nothing to do with the graphics card. That's the way FFXI handles resolution changes, which is why you had to change your aspect ratio.Originally posted by Saphiera View Postand my graphics card is PoS and makes FFXI look like fat ppl

/em grabs chest............IT'S THE BIG ONE!!
Fyi, just make sure you have the right pin set up on your power supply. Older ps's have a 4 pin and many new mb's need an 8 pin. I was stupid enough to think that our local computer store wouldn't rape me (ya I know /slap) and I blindly bought a ps. Picked up a Coolermaster 650w for $120 because I needed it RIGHT NOW and it had the 4 pin connector setup. I was so pissed because by the time I got home and found this out, the store was closed for the day and it wasn't open on Sunday. Gramma had to go take a walk to cool off. LOL
you know those little config thingys you can do in the menu........
Feba: Seriously dude knock it the fuck off, sure correcting someone's mistakes is one thing but seriously do you need to go this far? my assumptions that you are in fact a moron keep proving to be even more true. Ignorance in a subject is one thing weather the person is trying to act a certain way or not. But constantly pushing the issue even further shows you HAVE NO LIFE, dude get over yourself your not impressing anyone by doing this.
That said I am no longer going to post anything els, sorry to all of you who didnt need to read that ^-^Last edited by Luna; 04-28-2008, 06:04 PM.

Yes, I quoted myself...sue me. LOLOriginally posted by TheGrandMom View PostFyi, just make sure you have the right pin set up on your power supply. I just wanted to add to my glorious little tale above as a warning to idiocy even in the professional world. So I took back the ps to the shop today. I know that the people in the shop must have an education in computers in order to work there because my cousin was the district manager for many years. So they are fairly knowlegable right? I give the ps back to the gentleman and he asks why and I explain. He proceeds to tell me that I am mistaken. I explain to him that I know I'm not and why. I then get this answer "Ma'am, I've been working with computers now for 12 years and I can guarantee you that you are mistaken and this ps will work with that mb just fine." The condescending tone of his voice had me boiling but the many years of "if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all" from my mother overruled what I wanted to say. I just insisted on a refund, got it, and told him that I will go do business elsewhere with people that do not treat me like an idiot. Best Buy it is!! Because most of the sales people there (computers) are already idiots. LOL
So after I got home and we hooked it all up, TA DA! it worked! My son said "We should call up that pc store and let them know how wrong they were." Of course, I said that we won't do that because we don't need to stoop to their level of ignorance. Well, someone upstairs must have liked me today because the phone rang 5 minutes later. The gentleman at the pc store was on the phone and he was apologizing because after doing some research he realized that I was correct and he was dead friggin wrong. Divine justice......yes please!

Re: New Computer Configuration
So then you have nothing but your own (probably mistaken) impressions go to on. If the world were limited to only what you believe are true, things would be really simple. But that's not the way things work.
