Because the two named anime musical scores have been around for roughly ten years (Macross Plus, 8 years. Akira, 15 years)... When you've been listening to a piece of music for a decade, I think it's fair to say, that at least you find, that the music has been masterfully done, and will most likely continue to think as such, since it's been so long already.
I also liked the music in "Metropolis" although to be honest, I'm not sure if it's original music... i know one of the songs in the film is an old 50's or 60's song and I don't know about the rest but I love the intro song.
There are a lot of really great anime music out there where to begine........ I'll start with Cowboy Bebop one of my favs I also like the music of FLCL, Escaflowne, Orphen, Akira, Kenshin, FUll Metal Panic, Sakura Wars, Samuri Deeper Kyo...... um yeah I think thats most of it there is just a lot of really great music!!

"Lord of the Darkness and Four Worlds, I beseech thy fragments; by all of the power thou possesseth, grant the heavens' wrath to my hand; unleash the sword of dark, freezing nothingness; by our power, our combined might, let us walk as one along the path of destruction: RAGNA BLADE!!"
Can someone please tell me the name of "The Pillows" song that they play during the FLCL commercials on Adult Swim? That's my favorite one. They also play it in most (if not all) of the episodes as well. It starts with a soft guitar rift in the beginning and than goes into what sounds like more than one person singing. Ugh, yeah the best way I can explain it is that its the song played at the beginning of the commercials when the main character starts speaking. The commercials only have the guitar rift part though... not the people singing. It's not the ending song though, I have that one. Well, thx to anyone who can help me.
EDIT: Well if anyone cares or also wanted to know, lol, it's called "Carnival".
But can anybody tell me the name of that song from the Ruruoni Kenshin OVA1: A man who kills. You know, the one that they just replay differently all through the movie( or show or whatever it is), especially the flashback of when the master is talking about the sake. I have the jap version with subtitles of Kazaa for my pc

i love the songs in EVA, both the clasical ones and the new songs. i really like the song in EoE when Lillith/Rei is sucking up the souls.
the first two lines of "Zankoku na tenshi"("Cruel Angel's Thesis") in japanese is:
Žc?“‚È“VŽg‚̂悤‚É
?_”N‚æ?@?_˜b‚ɂȂê
for those without MSMincho font, it's:
Zankoku na tenshi no youni
shounen yo shinwa ni nare
as for best soundtracks, EVA .hack and Silent Mobius are my top picks.

Overall, Final Fantasy: Unlimited. But my favorite osng is "Wings of Fire" something about a racing anime I've never seen(and I don't like racing much anyway) called D1. Or something. For a really long time I couldn't learn where the song came from. It's nice that I know where it's from now, but it lost that mysterious enigmatic feel.
