    Ah that makes sense. Thanks.

Balf posted what I read AFTER I filled the app out. So I am just hoping I will be able to fill out the PS3 app without it getting DQ'ed if they don't transfer that one over.

It was a double edged sword. I think they fixed some translation issues and bugs that found there way past Q&A while at the same time introduced other issues. For one I was running it on Windows 2000 and when I got to the gold saucer it would constantly crash. I had to install 95 on another machine and copy my save file over, pass the gold saucer there then move it back over to 2000 to continue.

There was also an issue at the archeological dig or whatever it was before you go to the ancients capital that I don't think existed in the playstation version.

Though I don't think SE actually was the company that did the PC port of either VII or VIII.

nnnoooooo.....lol PC version of FFVII sucked hard, for one they replaced all the music with really bad midi files.... then on top of that, it was a resource hog.

mmm interesting, Well I would say I have had my fill of ATI -.- next card I get is going to be an Nvidia

If thats really true, then its sad that they developed it on an Nvida, and that was the cards that has so much trouble for a while with the game, I honestly thought it was a real port, since it was released on PS2 first, then PC later, and since the game did not use the PC hardware like it should have, I figured they just did a really bad job of porting it, like they did FFVII for PC.

regardless of whatever that is for (probably just gathering information on preference), the fine print clearly states its for Windows version only:

FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Application Site

    The Fine Print

    * The current tester recruitment is for the Windows version of the FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test only. Details regarding recruitment for the PlayStation 3 version will be released at a later date. * The game to be tested is under development, and may differ significantly from the commercial release. * Applicants may apply only once. Repeat submissions from an individual will invalidate all of that individual’s applications. * Inquiries regarding the selection process and/or its results will not be answered. * For more details, see the FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Application FAQ here. * Application contents cannot be changed once submitted.
    bump for glory

They will need testers for both PC & PS3, they were asking which you could test it on. They are going to test it on the PC first, then get more testers, and more and eventually test it on the PS3 as well. They said that in an interview somewhere (and no, I don't remember where, that was a month or two ago, and I don't remember) They are not going to have people reapply, that's why they said multiple applications would be trashed. They are going to hold only the applications.... Hell, they might be putting them into catagories right now - this applicant is in group 1 (probably the people with the "best" machines), this one is in group 3 (which will have both PC & PS3), this applicant is in group 2 (PC only still), ect.

At least that is the way I read it. Hence me putting both PC and PS3 on my application.

API1 that the PS3 is optimized for but you'll have to do very sub-optimal work on Windows
API2 that is a Windows function that you have to write your own on the PS3
API3 that is optimized for neither but runs the same on both

The neutral method, and the one that takes the least development effort is use API3.
