  • JPButton — Famitsu Xbox 360 Interview with Localization Team

    Interview by Corinth

Here is the first part of the interview Famitsu Xbox 360 Magazine did with the Localization Team as part of their “Behind the Scenes of Vana’diel” series. Each part can be read on its own and covers a different topic. If you missed them before, here are links for Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4.

I know some people are confused as to why these interviews have been translated in reverse order. I translated them in the order I received the articles so it couldn’t be helped. When I first did part 4, I wasn’t sure if/when I would be able to get the rest of them. This completes the series for the Localization Team. The Effect Team interviews will be published in order since that is the current series being published in Japan.

As a reminder, seven people participated in the Localization Team interview. This interview series was first published in September of 2008 so it’s likely the interview was conducted before that. In part 1, team leader Shin Kimishima mentions that they had recently hired new people for the FFXI Localization Team. This means there are probably more people now actively working on translating FFXI.

Since this is part 1, it covers the basics of what the Localization Team does, a little bit about how each of them came to work on FFXI, and a few general comments on translating FFXI.
