As I shall demonstrate, the game actually does render a much larger draw distance, but then covers the majority of it with a veil of "fog" and lowers the sky ceiling so your client doesn't actually have to draw it. In order to allow your computer to actually view the real game distances, you obviously need to go over SE's head and run a plugin (drawdistance) for windower. Example:

(The default is a drawdistance ratio of 1.0)
    .
    .
    .

(as you can see, now all of Bastok is visible and the sky is where it's supposed to be: in the sky behind the mountains of Gustaberg)

20 seems to be the highest value that you can use to produce noticable results. It's really amazing to get on an airship and actually be able to see far enough out to identify landmarks such as Heaven's Tower when flying past Windurst to Kazham, or being able to see Sauromugue Champaign off to the North East as you fly from Bastok to Jeuno.

I understand SE would like to keep the game fair and balanced for all systems, but really, does allowing a PC, or Xbox, to render the game how it's supposed to look really disturb the balance of gameplay?

Though the plugin says it increases draw distance for mobs, I've found this to be untrue as mobs, NPCs, and players still won't appear until within 50', though you can see much, much farther. In the end, this is truly an aesthetic adjustment to the game and has next to no impact on actual game-play.

Just saying, users shouldn't need to resort to 3rd party tools just to allow them to run the game how it's meant to run.

I just hope if there's a RDM adjustment it's about Enspells II (to solo better) and better buffs/debuffs. I would hate it if RDM was moved to the front lines to play lolrdmblu the same way I hate lolpldDD.

Unless of course it was made in a way that support/debuff was still the priority for the job in a party.

Still... meleeing in a party after lvl 41... yeah, not really my thing.

Uh oh, they said "job adjustments."

RDM and SMN forums are going to get active again.

Ahhh, to be able to equip heavy armor and Kote like the Sandy wyvernless Drgs.

Of course, since it seems NPCs can equip armor/weapons regardless of job.....

Then that's one hell of a decked out Whm next to the tower in Qufim when Sandy controls the joint =o.0=

    Beat me to it >_>

    EDIT: Just like to add to what YM said;

SMN: Still waiting on that adjustment to encourage keeping avatars out. Elemental Siphon is nothing but a quick MP fix.
    MNK: {Nunchaku} {Can I have it?}
BLM: Also got Skillchain Adjustments (still waiting on those "party friendly" spells they promised over a year ago)
RDM: SE said they wanted to make them busier in parties. Not sure I want to see the results >_>
DRK: Still waiting on Scythe Update. Absorb-ACC sucks because like other absorbs it decays.
BRD: They also said we'd get new songs.
NIN: Okay this is just my own personal wish here but dear god make shuriken more affordable...

I'm sorry, but I just have to at the fact that it wasn't the Red Mages that started making a big deal about what Red Mages might get out of this update. An omen of things to come, perhaps?

Being strictly objective here, let us look at all the jobs that have received a direct adjustment since the November fanfest:

    WAR: O (Retaliation)
    MNK: X ("Kick" Abilities?)
    THF: O (Accomplice; later, Collaborator)
    BLM: O (Retrace)
WHM: O ("Recall" line of spells)
    RDM: X (Ever-so anticipated "front-line" update)
    PLD: X (Damage-reflection, possible tie-in with a Shield . . . I'd love for it to be subbable . . . )
DRK: O (Absorb:ACC; also, just look at all the love DRK has been getting BEFORE fanfest)
    BRD: X (Single-target-able songs)
    BST: O (Snarl)
    RNG: O (Velocity Shot)
    SAM: O (Sekkanoki)
    NIN: O (Monomi: Ichi)
DRG: O (Wyvern gains experience! . . . sort of)
    SMN: O (Elemental Siphon)
BLU: O (Asuran Claws, et al.)
    COR: O (New Phantom Rolls)
    PUP: O (New Automaton Weaponskills)
DNC: O (Various tweaks; bonuses if being used as Main job)
SCH: O (Sublimation, Addendums, et al.)

Basically meaning every single job RoZ onward got a buff, and most of the others did as well, leaving only Monk, Red Mage, Paladin, and Bard at the front of the line. And more jobs than that got plenty of treats in the last version update.

Still, the probability Red Mages get an update in the next version update has pretty much seemed to be the converse of the probability the sun rises tomorrow thus far. We shall see what happens.

The ps2 has nothing to do with performance on the PC client though. At least not for the things I'm talking about.
