I don't see how getting silver bullets will make RNG less attractive either. They have the potential to do more damage especially when a COR has to buff the PT and RNG just attacks.
From a little test I ran the other week on RNG:

Slug Damage with Coffinmaker and Iron Bullet: 1,173
Slug Damage with Coffinmaker, Iron Bullets and Minuet x2: 1,532
Slug Damage with Coffinmaker, Silver Bullets (no Minuet): 1,510

I had a COR tell me he had done 1.9k damage on a Spongilla fly in mire because he was COR/WAR at the time. He had a BRD, but I suspected he had left another detail or two out. I went to Mire as RNG/WAR, using most of the same gear as I would COR, only a couple minor differences like armor on head and body. I had bison steak and berzerk active at the time in all shots, which were done just out of melee range.

As I suspected, something hadn't added up. When I went back to ask the COR who else was in his PT, he then recalled that he had a DRG in his PT that used Angon (20% defense down, 8% stronger than acid bolts), which would mostly account for the extra damage he had done. Another important note was the COR ate sushi, I didn't, so it was mostly the BRD and DRG's Angon that got him the high numbers, not /WAR as much as he had wanted to believe.

I don't think COR needs access to silvers, perhaps a tier of bullet between iron and silver could be introduced for COR or they could gain access to Crossbows, but you run the risk of obseleting RNG at all levels 50+ if you give COR silvers. The gap in accuracy between COR and RNG at endgame is pretty notable, but not so much in EXP if COR goes /RNG. Let RNG keep their damage.

RNG isn't doing that much better than COR in terms of job population right now, yet everyone concerns themselves with COR's population. Trust me, its not becaue we don't do enough damage, COR does plenty - its the expense, preparation and the responsibility a support class entails that makes COR unattractive to players. If you couldn't handle the fact RNG needed spend and have /NIN prepared, much less all the subjobs a RDM could want to take on, then you're not gonna be able to handle COR.

Chocobo Knight
You do realize that you can't attack anything while mounted on a chocobo, right? Chocobo Knights were referenced a lot in FFX, but never playable and not really a job class. If they are a class, I'll eat my cards.

well, in the 1up interview, he says "About" the time of the Crystal Wars or whatever... doesnt mean specifically 20 years.

Not that I know of as of yet; I'll have to check and see for myself. I remember a Windurst quest called "A Blast from the Past", but I don't remember it being related at all.

Another thing that interests me is one of the shots I saw of Sarutabaruta; there was a tower standing there. I have a feeling we're going back a lot farther than a mere twenty years....

Re: The OFFICIAL "Wings of the Goddess" @ E3 2007 Thread!

Alright, I've read my fair share of the hype and speculation, and some things should be said. Let me clear up some general issues here.

NEW RACE
There's not going to be a new playable race anytime soon, folks. There are tons and tons of files related to PCs: Armor, weapons, animations, effects, et cetera. If SE was to add a new playable race, there's hardly be much more room on the installation disc for more content. Besides, all that animation and programming would definitely push back the release date by a very considerable amount.

NEW JOBS
We're getting new jobs alright, probably the standard set of three that SE seems to like doing. A long time ago I heard one was going to be Chocobo Knight, and so far it seems like it's definitely going to be one of them. In further research on my own, however, I couldn't find much more on other job classes that might be to come; all I could find were some extremely vague hints.

PLOT
It seems clear that we're going back in time alright, but that doesn't necessarily make this a prequel. By all means, it very well could be one, but other options lie open. Here's a small musing of mine.
Every video game has that superly awesome bad guy in it, right? Like, the Shadow Lord, Eald'narche, Promathia, etc... and there's always a main plot that continues the plot from before. I don't think Wings of the Goddess is going to be any different.
Perhaps there is yet another major enemy that we must take down to save Vana'diel (again? Geez, haven't we already done this three or four times? lol). So, for the first bit, there's nothing THAT unusual, and then suddenly these strange events start occurring. You're the hero whom saved the world, plus you're an adventurer, so naturally you get caught up in the mess. Then it happens...
The enemy meets you, either in person or using his henchmen in some form or another. After the short meeting (a battle, an argument, anything), the enemy realizes that you'll be a huge menace to his plans if you get in the way. So, how does he get rid of you, you ask? He sends you back in time. Where the story goes from here, I don't know...
I also got the idea that getting sent back in time would end up being something along the lines of an accident that would coincidentally get you wrapped up in the main plot (sort of how CoP did; it's not like you went into Promyvion on PURPOSE! O.o; ).

I might also add that San d'Oria will probably have a heavy influence on the time travel mess one way or another. You can see how so if you've done (and remember) the plot for "A Timely Vist."

A Timely Visit

Everything else is player conversation only, and you just have to read to see that. It's mostly skippable though.

It's rather hard to find the new info in all these pages, could we add the new news on the first page here or on a seperate sticky?

There arent really that many CORs around and its more of a support job than a straight DD. I dont see many RNGs using guns...

Of course CORs miss a lot too without the RNG sub.
