Just want to let everyone know of the LS event coming up soon! ^^

Thanks to Mijo Ramhorn and Granas Nightroad and Allanon Galaphile for the following event!

On Jan 15, 2011 3:00 pm EST we will be doing the Winner Takes all Run for your Life! Any LS members may sign up. There is a small entrance fee in which the winner of the contest will receive as a prize! You may use any job you want to do this run, however teleporting is strictly forbidden. If you are caught teleporting you will be disqualified. The event will take 2-3 hours to complete so make sure if you sign up you have time to complete the event. This event is not for the faint of heart, but will be fun and a chance to explore and possibly get camps and nodes that you may not have. Further details on the event will come in the next couple weeks.

Application Fee: 75 Shards of each element and 10 Crystals of your choice!

You can now sign up for this event under events or on the homepage. Details are being kept quite so that people do not have an unfair advantage. This will be a fun event and one that will be remembered. Plus this is a way to break the monotony of crafting, battle leves, and just plain grinding. Hope everyone will join! Remember the more that join the bigger the over-all reward!

On the 15th everyone that wants to join will need to be in one party. 15 is the max per party so if we need another party that is something we can do then. Everyone in the party will be ported to an undisclosed location at this time and then will need to run to the finish line which will also remain undisclosed to give everyone a fair chance. Now you will be in a party and it will be everyman for himself, but if some wish they can "help" other LS members and then just split the winnings. Once again this run is a chance to test how savvy you are in the face of certain death. Also everyone that has said they maybe can make it please try to make a choice a day or so before the event so we can get a good count on who all will be coming. Also for those that do not know you can click on the event tab to sign up or decline and can change your mind at anytime.

Also a vent guy here, have been since my daoc days. but TS was popular back then too. i remember joining a rvr raid where I had to go DL teamspeak in order to be in it. Seems pretty necessary, or at least makes things infinitely easier from an organizational stand point. It doesn't matter how much attention you are paying to the chat box, voice communication is simply faster

That's the thing, I prefer to be on the Vent channel I'm on, because most of my WoW/LoL/SC buddies are there. I find people who use TS are mostly FPS crowds (because that's where it was adopted) and Vent are usually with MMORPG players (i.e., it's gold standard for WoW raiding no matter what server and what region you're in)

We only switched to TS3 bec we didnt want to pay for a vent server. We learned rather quickly that TS3 is far superior to vent. That is coming from someone who used to stand by Vent.

If I see someone expressing interest I'll pass them to your site. I'm not actively recruiting for my LS ... mostly just sitting on my hands and waiting for old friends to dump FFXI and move on to my server.

Boats are confirmed. They seem to be a sort of pvp or similar battle thing, though. And they are only for companies. :]

Completely new topic! At one point reading the forums here, I stumbled upon some upcoming features, such as player made boats (I think), wedding cakes, and generally stuff that takes multiple people to accomplish, as well as a guild / corporation hall or building. Any idea if this would be able to span multiple linkshells, or will the stuff be exclusive to just one linkshell?

I know they plan to have airships. A friend of mine has a friend who works for SE or at least close to them who can confirm this. I am not sure about boats tho. I do know tho that SE only intended Linkshells to be a social thing, so when company's come out I think it either might be something entirely different where you can only be apart of one and have the ls's aside, or its a group of linkshells.

We only call our group a linkshell cuz thats all we have atm. When company's become available we will be moving up to a company.

And I don't agree. Telling a LS they will get no new members / barely any (and "suggesting" they'd be better off without a certain rule) is not keeping things civil. That's attacking.

Too organized, and lost me at the mandatory team speak part,I'm not sure why but these kind of shells remind me of no-lifer HNMLSes from FFXI.

I predict that the Teamspeak requirement will be optional eventually. If the PS3 version is ever released, what are they going to do if they want to join? Are you going to limit your application pool to PC ONRY? I like using vent but I don't like being told that I HAVE to.
