I understand that it can change, by a large amount, but would be nice to see what the crafters (Or current crafter), use to fight with.

It's not that it 'can' change, it's that it will change, and drastically. Right now crafters don't even have any of the combat skills they were promised. Which is why no one fights with the one crafter class you can use.

I mean if a Blacksmith can fight almost as good as a Gladiator, and they can fix weapons on top of that, that is a pretty big advantage over a lot of fighter classes.

They won't. At most they'll be combat support.

Personally I think it is kind of mistake treating a crafting job as a "class". A lot of people will be crafting anyway, whether they like it or in it for the money, but most people don't pay to play mmorpgs just to do something tedious like full time crafting.

Then don't think of it as a 'class', think of it as a Skill. Because really, in this game, that's what all the jobs end up being. Different skills you can learn and grow stronger in. Either you get better with your Axe skill as a Marauder or you get better with your Hammer skill as a Blacksmith.

I haven't seen anyone travel as far as you can compared to traveling from the southern part of North Gustaberg into K. Highlands.

I think the alpha area outside Limsa is just one zone available so far. There will surely be different music for different areas and dungeons,
but each area is big, that's why music differences are sparse.

I'm sure Ul'dah and Gridania's surrounding areas will have their own music, and probably their own battle theme too.
The Gamescom battle theme was different from the alpha, so there will be more than one normal battle theme. Already, Guildleves themselves already have its own battle theme.

That exploration music is getting pretty old though. Is the zone just incredibly large, that we haven't seen anyone exploring any other one with different music, or since the "zones" are all interconnected with no loading times, do we hear the same music all the time?

I don't think anyone is saying they hope crafters can dd well. They just want to see what a crafter can do in a fight other than fixing someone's gear.

well they said crafters might get abilities to make them more combat capable but I don't think they will ever substitute War and Magic disciplines in battles as effectively.

Treating craft classes as warrior classes might be a tad silly. Plus if they get good enough at fighting, they might break the balance since they would also have money advantages from what they get out of their craft.

Whatever combat tools the crafters get, I think it will just be something for them to do but overall just a gimmick that
just works on low level mobs.

Or enough to help a party a little, even though their damage over time would be equivalent to a weak poison.

That's why you never see any of the Final Fantasy stories about some crafter hero saving the world. They are either a fighter class or a mage class, or both. combat-style adventurers is a more popular and exciting role. Craft classes doubling as combat ready people, wielding
blacksmith hammers, and frying pans, and needles with thread and balls of yarn, and cloth scissors........ hmmmmmm.

THe only other Discipline I think should have combat skills would be the Land classes, because they sound like they have to actually go out to the
dangerous wild more often than Hand classes to complete their trade. They said craft classes won't ever need to fight to reach max level,
maybe they referred to the Hand category. Land might be different, but I think that's related to fisherman and stuff like that, so maybe even they might not really fit in to combat stuff, well maybe. But War and Magic disciplines are in great need of more classes and weapon types,
more so than Hand and Land should offer.

From my understanding there's currently only one crafter class available right now so there's not much to show. Personally, I'd wait for Alpha 2 or even Beta stages before anyone judged how jobs work because at this point everything could literally change from one phase to the next.

it's good if they are not strict like RDR was before release. More people like what they see than people who criticize an unfinished version.

Besides that youtube video person was smart to mask their FFXIV name somehow. hey must of altered some file from the alpha.

it would be nice to see a party of 6 take on the stronger mobs. all this solo stuff is kind of boring.

As for the Pugilist... I'd like to see it too. I would also like to see some combat videos of the crafters. Wonder how they are doing their combat.

I downloaded them, and had no virus issues. Some of them where pretty damn interesting too.

As for the Pugilist... I'd like to see it too. I would also like to see some combat videos of the crafters. Wonder how they are doing their combat.

Well anyway, wonder when FFXIV testers will share in-depth Pugilist gameplay? So far we seen Conjurer, Lancer and Gladiator and Archer demonstrations. I only seen a Puglist fight in the background during a Lancer video. Wonder what more skills they have in the alpha? as well as their first weaponskills.
