I'm not even going to get into the Horde character models. . .Maybe that's why I could never play the game for more than 2 weeks at a time.

I think when it comes to the term Manthra etc. it's something that's appearing more and more in the media. The latest example that I have seen was last night on The Big Bang Theory. They were talking about one of the male actors sensative time of the month (I don't know the names of characters other than Penny (she's hot) because I have only seen the show a few times). They used the term "manstrating."

afk, gotta change into my Haub

As for personal characters, I always prefer to have a guy avatar because when it comes right down to it...I act very much like a guy. Loud mouthed, fairly aggressive, usually dim at times but reliable enough when it hits the fan. This isn't an RP act or anything...it's pretty much just how I am. I mean, while it is fun to run around as a female character and make em look all hot and stuff, it's much more fun to check out girls playing as girls.

My basic image of what my personal character should look like basically came from my old D&D/RP. The face I picked(3a) looks nothing like me, but it best fits the kind of character I prefer to play, a tough but slick character with a face you really shouldn't trust, but end up trusting anyway. A guy who works equally well on the front lines of an all out fight as he can behind the lines using stealth and trickery. It's also why I only really play Thf and War...they just fit with my personality and my character's.

Incidentally, in every subsequent game I've played with a create-a-character system, I usually end up modeling them after my FFXI character. PSU, SWG, COH, Demon's Soul's, WKC etc etc etc, all generally based on the dashing rogue with blond spikey hair (more or less) look from my guy in XI. However while those other games made me want to stay around because of how much I liked my character, the exact opposite happened with WoW as nothing I tried to use appealed to what I wanted. None of the (non-expansion) races or characters looked like something I wanted to play as and it greatly hampered my enjoyment of the game. I just couldn't get into it because I couldn't create an avatar that I liked looking at. Not even the chicks.

Though I'm loling at the whole "Manqo'te" thing, that's definitely going to be a term I'll be using in the future. Now we just need to figure out a XIV equivalent to Girlka and we'll be all set.

I'm comfortable with my sexuality and I know how efiminate I can be at times, but I just could not pull the trigger on being a female character in FFXI. Now it's 4 1/2 years later and I'm reconsidering it since they still have not introduced playable male Mithra. However, I have also considered rolling a Galka character. I may have to do both and see if I enjoy one over the other. Open Beta will be a good time to experiment. I just hope we can create more than one character.
