Is it just me or do ELV really suck at SAM?
so far ive got to lvl20 SAM/WAR with a GK and +2 dex
My weapon is maxed and still miss like crazy.
Aren't ELV the masters of swords?
More than 1 time ive had 4 miss in a row, land 1 crit, then have 2 more misses?
    Its really driving me nunts
    Anyone got an idea's?
I may just have to trash the SAM idea if this keeps up.

Yet you didn't mention that afterwards you hit 6x in a row...

Its a mental thing, you only pay attention to the negative. If your weapon skills are maxed, you'll miss just as often as anyone else.

yea thats cause after 4misses, 1 crit, and 2 misses the fight is over.
SAM's have an average 450delay. A miss at that high of a delay really hurts.

I notice you have a +2 dex. I'm a lvl 20 mithra sam with like a base 28 dex. I spent 23k on two balance rings the other day for a total +4 to dex.

Anyways I head back to the dunes pugil beach and I swear I am missing significantly more.

I'm going to test with the rings on and off. However I don't recall at all missing this much before I had the rings.

+2 dex is absolutely nothing, you're going to need a lot more than that to make up for you being elvaan. Masters of the sword? wtf? If you really want to know what missing is all about, be a elvaan drk, you'll never hit anything.

as mithra I hit pretty damn often... I also have +7dex (2dex rings and +3dex neck) and Im always using meat mithkabobs so I generally hit hard but I do have my runs of missing 4 or 5 times in a row.

I've used +dex and +accuracy items. The big thing I see is if you use +dex you are raising various abilities at once, your evasion, accuracy, etc.. The catch though for rasing a base is you need a lot more of the base raised in order to get an end result you're looking for, especially if it's one specific thing.

Most MUD based games were I did a bit of programming for, the hit rates only gained a percentage of the base stats. So to really get a desired result if you're focusing on one thing is to get a +effect to that specific thing. Have a few +dex items will be nice but I'd probably advise getting some +accuracy items if you want to see a huger jump in your hit rate.

Everything comes with a penalty your goal is to create the balance you like the most.

                EDIT:

Actually to clarify better the base stats when filtered down to the characters evasion, enmity, latent, accuracy, attack, defense, etc.. the base only effected them at a percentage amount. So even though raising base raises mulitple things, it's only a percentage of it were as a raise specific to that one thing can actually create a much more noticable effect. The penalty is you only get to raise one instead of multiple then..

subjective perception is such a wonderful thing

                  hi ,

welcome to the world of 2 handed weapons
2 handed weapons do not miss at a higher rate than 1 handed weapons .
however because of the significantly higher delay , any misses that do occur will be felt

race has nothing to do with it
all race determines is your base stats and HP growth
at lvl 20 the difference between a Elvaan and a Mithra is not omg XTREME TO THE MAX.

if you took the time to really parse it you would find that the mithra hits at the most 5-10% more than you using the same weapon.

if you really want to cut down on misses get +acc gear
at the lvl 40-50 range you get access to lifebelts and sniper rings
which all up should add 15 to acc which is worth like 30 dex

personally i wouldnt bother too much about stats since samurais dont have activated abilities which are affected by stats

PS also please note that the mobs evasion takes precedence over your ability to hit it.

I am an Elvaan SAM too.. the misses are really driving me nuts. I was at Qufirm Islands pt with this Mithra War/Monk. I was using my Nodachi GKT while she was using a spear. Granted she was one level higher than me and has 2 amethryl (*spelling) rings that give Dex +1. And this is the rough senario when we are hitting Snippers (Crabs),

                    SAM TP (12%) , War TP (12%)
                    War calls for TP Report)
SAM TP (46%), War TP (108%)
War calls for TP Report (again)
SAM TP (98%), War TP (208%)

Grrr  .. i was like "WTF is wrong with my SAM!?"

From what i read above, +ACC items will dramatically improves hit rate. Anyone can advise what a level 23 (or the next few levels )can buy and equip with and yet can last me a long time?

Also just check on general preference.. will SAM prefer GKT lower delay time over Damage power?

The way it works in general is. . . if you're fighting monsters that give you good exp (i.e. what you're PT seeks out) you're gona end up missing a good deal as they should be impossible for your to think about soloing. And as said within this thread, it's not that you miss more than others - you just notice yourself missing more because you focus so much on the times you miss. And as far as the elvaan being trash when it comes to being samurai i have a great response but i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or get warned.

hehe.. well i dont mind listening to yr response. but anyway i still luv my elvaan and not any other race. the only complain is the way they run.

BTW, any advice of what are good, value for money accessories to buy (and can last for a long while ) to help reduce miss for a lv 23- 30?

There's only two items I can suggest. The +1 or +2 14 DEX rings (I hope you already have those since you're Elvaan), and at 25 you get Windustrian Tekko for hands. They're cheap on my server (9K) and add +2 ACC and +2 Ranged acc. If you're rich, you can get the Federation Tekko's, which add +3 ACC and +3 Ranged Acc...but those are 80K I beleive. A bit too much for only +1 more ACC IMO.
