Mnk/whm ?

i'm nearing level 18 and haven't decided what i'm going to choose as my support!? i've thought about being a mnk/whm....do you think this would be a good idea?

also, is till don't know how supports work...do you just get the abilities etc. of the support aswell as your main job? :confused:

Your support job can be no higher than half you main job. Here are some examples

Ok mnk/wm is not going to be a good combo honestly. A monk is all about damage dealing and emergency tanking(mnk/war). The WM wouldn't help very much toward the extra str, dex , vit, hp you would want. The single cure II(if hume or taru) would be alright, but isn't going to save you much.

Monk/wm and just about any melee/mage combo for that matter work poorly in party situations normally.

You don't have to use a cookie cutter combo if you don't want. Just know when it comes time for parties to seek damage dealers, party leaders will most likely pick the monk with the fully leveled melee sub before they pick the monk/mage with the fully leveled sub.

Mnk/whm is great for soloing. I have a lvl 25 mnk that I sub whm with when I want to farm or lvl alone (which is alot)

He is galka so at that level, with a silver hairpin (+15mp -15hp) I have about 50 mp. That means 6 cures for about 30 each (with healing skill capped).

With this setup the downtime I have while soloing is cut by more than half. In a party though your focus should be on killing, so a mage subjob would not be as beneficial.

I agree with Saco. I took a /WHM sub up until level 30 and it worked out pretty well for me. I didn't really deal any significantly smaller amount of damage in melee, and the extra healing helped from time to time, as did protectra when I was in a party without a "full" WHM.

This combination isn't for those who believe that everyone has a role in the party and should focus on it to the exclusion of all else- it's more of a combination for someone who likes a flexible character, even if it doesn't accent your strengths as well as a "standard" combination may.
