If you want to make your XML even more convoluted you could make some rules for the fire obi. +10% damage is pretty excellent.

      Re: Optimal Wildfire Gear (02/10/2012)

Fun Fact: Yyg does not use XML files at all. He uses the 6 lines provided in each macro to the best of his ability.

You should see all the re-routing I do with my sets. Almost all of them look like this:

      Example Macro Book 1

      CTR+1 (Quickdraw Set)
      /Macro Book 5 (QD Set)
      /Macro page 1
      /Equip Waist "Aquiline Belt"
      /Equip Hands "Shutzen Mittens"
      /Equip Back "Forman Cape"
      /Equip Head "Corsair's Tricorne +1"

Now we're in Book 5 and equiped with half of our QD Gear

CTR 1-9 are For the 9 QD Elements and each look like this...

      CTR+1 (Let's Say..... Fire Shot)
      /Equip Neck "Artemis Medal"
      /Equip Earring 1 "Moldy"
      /Equip Earring 2 "theranione"
      /ja "fire shot"
      /
      /

Now that we shot... we need to go back to the original menu... so I code CTR+0 Like this...

      CRT+0 (Root)
      /Equip Neck
      /Equip Head
      /Equip Earring 1
      /Equip Earring 2
      /Equip Waist
      /Macro Book 1

Now we're back to Macro book 1... but we're on the wrong page. We started on page 1 and now we're on 2. That's why I code every single page in Macro Book 1 to look exactly the same.

Now... it's important to note that Macro Book 1 is my Book for COR/RDM & COR/BLM & COR/WHM(because they're so similar). Book 2 is for COR/NIN, Book 3 is for COR/RNG and Book 4 is tentatively for COR/SAM.

Book 1's QD Macro sends you to Book 5 Page 1. Book 2's QD Macro sends you to Book 5 Page 2. Book 3's QD Macro sends you to Book 5 Page 3... and you get the idea. Each of those respective page's return (root) macro sends you back to it's respective Job/Subjob Book.

Each Root Book also contains a macro that all send you to the same exact place. They all send you to Book 5 Page 6,7,8,9 & 0 respectively orthwise known as the Roll pages.

CTR 2 On Book 1 page 1 lets call it looks like this...

      CRT+2
      /Equip Head "Commadore's Tricorne +2"
      /Equip Ring 1 "Luzaf's Ring"
      /Macro Book 5
      /Macro Page 6

Now that we're in Book 5 Page 6 and equipped with most of the best rolling gear... here's how it looks.

CRT 1-9 Are Mage-Based Rolls and Passive Effects (Healers Roll/Bolters Roll... yadda yadda) and ALT 1-9 are all Melee-Based Rolls. No matter what roll you pick to activate... they all look like this:

      CTR+7 (Bolter's Roll)
/Equip *gear that possibly effects that specific roll*
      /ja "Bolter's Roll" <me> <wait 2>
/echo 3/9 (to remind me of the lucky/unlucky numbers)
/Equip Navarch's Tricorne +2 (to replace the Commodore's one we macro'd in to roll)
/Equip Ring 1 "whatever you had there before Luzaf's"
/Equip *the gear you had on before the first line in this macro went off*

CTR+0 and ALT+0 both Send you back to whatever root you came (Be it Book 1, 2, 3 or 4) from and put you on page 1 of that Root. Each is coded individually to to accomidate specific gear swaps that might be necessery based on what SJ that Root is for.

If that helps you at all. Awesome. If not... I'm probably the only crazy fucker who doesnt use XML these days anyway.

I thought we got you looked on Spellcast a while back? And yes I know how to stack macros, I had my stuff set up like that on Red Mage before I finally broke down and got Windower and all its goodies. Getting a single new piece of gear could be a tremendous pain in the ass with all the macro re-writing you had to do.

If you're not using Spellcast then don't sweat it. I was just pointing out a slot where there's potential for a massive performance boost in the right situation, since this is about optimal gear and all.

I like Spellcast... but part of me just can't commit to it.

What I do like is the macro building that can be done within Windower itself. If anything, I would use that... but even still. Some small part of me likes having macros like looks as if they were written by a mad man.

---------- Post added at 02:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:26 PM ----------

There was a brief time where I thought about using one or the other, but I opted out. I only would have done it in order to allow myself to pick up an additional 6th job to 99. At the moment, every single line of my macro books is full. I can't code anything for another job until I can make room.

          Macro Book 1 SMN/WHM

          Macro Book 2 SMN/RDM

          Macro Book 3 SMN/BLM

          Macro Book 4 SMN/SCH

          Macro Book 5 Elemental Siphon

          Macro Book 6 COR/RDM, COR/BLM, COR/WHM

          Macro Book 7 COR/RNG

          Macro Book 8 COR/DNC

          Macro Book 9 COR/NIN

          Macro Book 10 Quickdraw/Rolls

          Macro Book 11 WHM/RDM

          Macro Book 12 WHM/BLM

          Macro Book 13 WHM/SCH

          Macro Book 14 NIN/DNC

          Macro Book 15 NIN/WAR

          Macro Book 16 NIN/THF

          Macro Book 17 NIN/WHM

          Macro Book 18 PUP/DNC

          Macro Book 19 PUP/MNK

          Macro Book 20 PUP/WAR

Only a hand full of lines are empty.

            Re: Optimal Wildfire Gear (02/10/2012)

(Bullet damage isn't factored into Wildfire Damage)
I always hated the Magic-oriented weapon skills like this and Leaden Salute not factoring in Bullets. While its a nice reprieve for the dedicated COR, its just another excuse for the bad ones to be cheap and buy nothing but bronze. Of course, those CORs don't try to have melee builds so most of them never get to use it, but then that fails to factor in the majority of melee CORs - the minority before the real minority - are bloody cheap too.

The class has a small population where the bad outweigh the good while BRDs have the opposite problem. Its not hard to be a "good" BRD and BRD is just associated with the word "good" so even the shitty halfassed ones are totally celebrated. So the really good BRDs on top of their shit end up with a thankless job.

SE just seems to encourage the bad ones on both sides no matter what. And then they add shit like the Healer's Roll update.

Please don't bring up the Healer's Roll update again. I have almost exhausted my box of kittens to punch.

I'm not totally sold on the idea of melee COR. It has its place, but I'd much rather /SAM to put together an x-hit build and just sit in the back shooting things from a distance when in a group setting.
