LVLing BLM

I just hit 18 with my WHM and now I am TRYING to lvl BLM but it sucks so much cause I die to Decent Challenges so far i am LV 8 the closest i got to 9 was 1k,died 3 times cause bind didnt hold for very long and i am getting to the point where i am just gonna give BLM up and LV RDM as a sub just so i dont have to deal with that BS anymore,a friend offered to PL me cause i do so much for her but i turned it down cause i wanted to get it done myself... i am starting to rethink that PL,anyways where would be the best place to LV BLM right now i am just killing worms for little XP in Bastok but the XP is starting to get really low, I really need advice.

Well, first of all make sure you have all your spells; this shouldn't be too hard yet... >.> You'll also not want to go after the decent challenges until you can cast Bind and it works... because BLMs can die super easy, especially if you're a taru (don't think you said what race you are).

Also, make sure you have good equipment, though this early on it's so easy to have good equipment I wouldn't know why you wouldn't. And I'm not talking about two astral rings or something, just make sure you have eremite's rings and not two shell rings or something. And I hate to say it, but if you're really having troubles have a club AND some other weapon that does higher damage, though not much is available for BLM.

Finally, I would level up a bit more and then head to Shakhrami Maze, I think a BLM of your level would fit nicely in a party there. Besides, the maze makers there yield so much more exp than those puny little Bastok worms.

Buy a tunic and slacks, and whatever the highest dmg staff is. I didn't rely on Bind, just using it when I needed to run away. Get to level 9 on the worms in Gustaberg, learn Aero, then kill worms in Konschtat Highlands.

I am a taru and I cant get to even 8 yet cause i get 1k away from lvling and then i die so i finally gave up on it and i am lvling Rdm for sub untill i get whm to 30 then i am going bard

Have you tried King Ranperre's Tomb? I've gotten 2 jobs from 7-8/9ish in that area today out of boredom.

i would rather not run all the zones just to try it cause Bastok to San D Oria is a god aweful run without a choco and i already starting RDM ^^ killing toughs without breaking a sweat is fun as hell

finally i came to super duper easy way to lvl blm, i use a lvl 1 club its has less delay then staff but less atk but you make up for it with dia and eating a meat mithkabob ^^ i managed to take a even match sheep with this method but almost died in the process but i always cast dia and blind (had 6 hp and stopped my spell casting, next attack miss me) didnt 2 hour just kept beating it and letting dia and blind save me alot 120 xp off of it... but for taru i really recomend using this if you can get the gil to get a mithkabob (Bahamut there 300 gil each) you have higher attack and you have less delay cause its a club,if you can get the +1 of it then thats better(i coudnt cause it was the only 1 up so someone decided to jack up the price) well now i have a decently lvled blm and i am happy ^^

you shouldn't rely solely on melee damage to kill exp monsters. it's nice to have in addition to your spells, but just meleeing is probably the most inefficient thing you can do...especially since you're taru. whip out the club, cast spells in between monster hits. shouldn't be that difficult. worms in konschtat should give 50-120 exp to a lvl 9 or 10...after that, you can move on to valkurm killing lizards and bunnies or to shakrami maze (probably better).

the only difference between a meat mithka and chiefkabob is 1% attack...chiefkabob lasts twice as long, also but otherwise they're practically identical.

When soloing, slow and steady method of gaining 20~30 Exp quickly is preferrable to going for big payouts that takes long and may cause you to die. It's boring as hell between 7~10. I just sucked it up and did it. This was WHM btw. BLM, if I recall, was easier to level.

sub whm and use pie.

this goes for leveling every job 1-10. subbing whm gives you access to cure and eating pie will give you enough mp to cast a number of times before needing to rest. it speeds up the process a lot.

Eat Str+ food and get the best atk weapon availible for your level. Then go attack EP mobs. Just did this with my whm(whm/blm) used an 8Atk club and was doing 20-30 dmg each hit to ep with a kabob on. only used Dia/poison for DC mobs and cure myself.

the main reason why i didnt use Juice cause the blm i am lvling is on Bahamut and is a taru so i have plenty of MP to use and the main spells i used where Bind,Dia,Blind,Poison which made killing harder stuff a little easier ^^

They're telling you to use more attack spells. I leveled blm VERY easily. A lot easier than other mage classes at low levels. You just nuke it until it dies. Make sure you use the element the monster is weak to. You have to learn to cast in between the times the monster attacks you. As a whm, standing there and bashing things to death works and works well, but you kill things oh so much faster with blm.
