  • Elvaan BLM

ive been playing around with a BLM elvaan, and hes actually not that bad. I barely run out of mp and i have that little str to support me then something like bomb toss is used. Maybe cause i have whm as sub, but it still isnt that bad. Im sure Taru are better BLM, but if they can make good monks, im sure Elvaan can make good BLM too, you just need to know how to use it.

actually elvaan blm are still GREAT black mages, i doubt we suck any more than taru as blm... despite however one says this and that.

right now on ragnarok the only importer blm that hit 70 are 2 elvaan, and i hope i'll be the 3rd elvaan blm importer that hit 70 (which i plan on tomorrow) (if anyone know nay taru blmimpoter hit 70... correct me by all means)

by all means, all the mp you use you have to gain it back. being a taru doesn't help you gain them back any faster. also the int problem, the damage is NOT that big for it to matter that much between an elvaan or taru blm (i mb stone4 about 80 damages lower than a taru blm on darkness renkei... which im my opinions out of 720 damages... it aint' that bad)

I love my Elvann blm. Not only is he sexy and more than 3 feet tall, he has the defense and hp to stay alive in a group and not become a major heal sink and group destabilizer. Having focued on INT, and having a naturally high MND for my whm sub, I'm keeping on par with most tarus in damage output, and only trading a little bit of MP for HP.

When the group wants a blm for a damage dealer, the healer wants an elvaan or hume. And 9 times out of 10 a whm or rdm gets what he wants in a PT.

There's really not enough of a difference between races to really matter that much.

Although there is one point about having a higher mp pool, yes you both need to regen your mp back, but a Taru can regen it back faster, here's why. A level 70 Elvaan has about 579 mp (without gear), and a level 70 Taru has about 863 mp (without gear). So the Elvaan can use 579 mp before they need to rest, and the Taru can uses 863 before they rest. Let's say you only rest when you are at 0 mana. So the Elvaan has 579 mp to regen and the Taru has 863 mana to regen, so they sit and heal.

The way healing works is that you get an extra 1 mp each tick, so without anything like refresh or bards going on this is how the regen would work:

Taru - Elvaan - Total MP regened
        15, 15, 15
        16, 16, 31
        17, 17, 48
        18, 18, 66
        19, 19, 85
        20, 20, 105
        21, 21, 126
        22, 22, 148
        23, 23, 171
        24, 24, 195
        25, 25, 220
        26, 26, 246
        27, 27, 273
        28, 28, 301
        29, 29, 330
        30, 30, 360
        31, 31, 391
        32, 32, 423
        33, 33, 456
        34, 34, 490
        35, 35, 525
        36, 36, 561
        37, 37, 598 <- Elvaan Full
        38, 636
        39, 675
        40, 715
        41, 756
        42, 798
        43, 841
        44, 885 <- Taru Full

23 ticks for Elvaan and 33 ticks for Taru's

Anyhow because the Taru can take advantage of the growing mp regen rate, their regen rate per mana is faster. ie the Taru averaged 863/33 ticks = 26 mp per tick, and the Elvaan averaged 579/23 ticks = 25 mp per tick.
