Is WHM better in my situation? (could be yours to)

Well as an elvaan lvl 24 war/12 mnk im tired of waisting 3 hours of my life looking for a PT so im concidering ging whm/blm depending on your input.

I would be going PLD/WAR but it's really frustrating waiting for PTs.

Is being an elvaan going to cripple some of the BLM spells like the elemental armors, Aspir, Tractor, ect. since elvaans are high MND but low INT?

Is starting over at square 1 (except for missions and quests) worth not going PLD/WAR compared to WHM/BLM which get PTs in 30sec not 3 hours?

Any other pros and cons of doing what I'm suggesting would be appreciated to.



BTW I have been looking at 3 forums on info on both elvaan/WHM/BLM/PLD so don't worry I'm not a slacker just asking questions.

The beauty of this game is that you can play any class with any race, and as long as you do your job right, and buy the right items where it counts you will be ok.

Your levels as a War/Monk are not wasted ither. They will be with you always. So if you start a WHM/BLM now, get bored of it, you can easily switch back without having to restart. So yah go for it, put down your sword, hang up your armor and instead pick up a stick and relax in a robe for awhile, see if it's to your taste. No one will look at you twice for it.

As for directly answering your questions. An Elvaan WHM is a good WHM high MND certainly plays a factor, and MP can be made up for with HP to MP items. Subbing BLM isn't an issue ither as long as you understand your limitations in that job. That being said, most WHM's choose BLM sub not for the actual Black Mage spells really. They princibly choose it for the extra mana it entails. In a organized PT, you won't be needed to nuke and will probably be asked not to, as they will have a Black Mage for that, you will be there to heal. Casting your Black Mage spells will just drain your mana for little gain and increase the PT's overall down time.

Overall, I don't think you will feel the INT hit that much, you certainly won't be some Taru, but nor will you be paper thin. It may make a difference solo (I doubt it), not that it matters, you said yourself you are choosing a WHM to get PT invites in 30 seconds =). Simply don't solo and no one will care if you are sub Black Mage yet never cast a black magic spell in your entire career =).

There are no pros and cons of your choice as long as you are having fun.

Yeah black mage sub is for MP and junk.
There are some convenient spells in there that
white mage doesn't get though, like tractor you mentioned
and bind/warp.

I'm going to be WHM/BLM then at 30 maybe WHM/SUM. I won't be summoning at all, except maybe alone as a toy (I certainly won't bother getting the other summons, unless people are going anyway and want me along.) I'll have summoner only to be a better white mage and have MP up the wazoo, auto refresh, etc.

As not.bad says there really is no wrong race. The only questionable white mage might be a galka.

Not sure if you'll be waiting for parties with
PLD/WAR. That is supposed to be like the best tank, especially
for an elf. I read in some other posts that it is like the best
high level tank for sure and is highly desired.

Nothing is really "crippled" due to stats. You can either cast them since you are high enough level or not, as far as I know. You'll be way buffer than a taru whm/blm.

As far as I know parties don't care if the white mage is Taru/mithra/elf/hume, they just want a white mage. Maybe you'll look good if the subclass is black mage or something applicable to casting better as a whitemage, and the sub class is maxxed level, but otherwise they won't care about that either.. if at all. They won't be picking you because you are a white mage and can tractor (I hope.. or maybe that will be a red flag for you anyway )

How about when I need to level BLM to be half of my WHM...will it be hard then because of my low INT?

it'll be easier b/c you have a BLM/WHM subjob now. But BLM is pretty hard to lv up anyhow.
