    PvP doesn't have to be base of the story or the game, its part of the game itself. Before the crystal war, the nation were at it themselves.

    Wouldn't it better if you can Seek while do something that contribute?
    The whole purpose is "ballista and gelsa-whatever. Can't give us those" we want something come from whitegate (where everyone is) and (pvp that doesn't take seek off)
    I always saw it as people who genuinely liked fighting other players, and not something to 'kill time' while lfg. I like the concept of PvP being a sport in this game, and think that if it was extended and fleshed out more, it would more enjoyable to participate in. All out fighting between adventurers would indeed go against the storyline, as we're supposed to be civil to one another. But more PvP 'games and sports', including at least one that let you make your own set team with a customized scheduale or something would be real cool imo.

    I think some sort of arena sport, where people can actually watch live action Pvp games, would be a great addition to the game, giving people the option of both full on PvP and the ability to be entertained while Lfg. Or maybe even a real time Dueling arena for people to fight one on one.

    And I was under the impression that the Coliseum was supposed to be a PvE arena of sorts and the Pit was supposed to be something entirely different. As is, that gate to the Coliseum is still locked and shut as that minigame has yet to be added.

    I was under the impression that the Colisseum or whatever was initially supposed to be a PvP arena, with the Pit being what it is now.

    ...or they just added it for fun in general. not everyone is focused on lfg or levelling all the time. what you do during downtime is what some people do for the bulk of their game.

    Just because you believe FF is not a PvP game doesn't mean others wouldn't like to see more PvP elements added to the game.

    You many enjoy the Pankatron, but others would prefer a more personal battle amongst each other. Either as a means to try out different gear setups, calculate various damages from weapons/gear, or as a means of passing time.

    I personally would much rather test my WHM melee skills against a few LS mates while seeking as opposed to taking pictures of mobs then watch those pictures fight other pictures. I wouldn't want to remove your fun though if you enjoy, just think you shouldn't go about spouting off what the game is or isn't when don't really have a direct say of what was meant with original intentions of the game.

    The community is what made this game a non-PvP game, mainly due to ill designed implincations of the PvP system. If SE were to revise the current rules or add another set, I believe more of the community could enjoy PvP elements.

    I hate pvp, never bother with it in any game I play and the only time I've done it in ffxi was at the request of friends and ls events.

    That being said, it would be cool if they did add more optional pvp with a better system in place then what we have now.

    I'm fairly certain he was being sarcastic.

    As for new pvp, I figure there's a chance they will implement a new pvp game in the expansion. Whether or not it will be good and rewarding, however, thats anyone's guess.

    just because you don't like something does not mean it should be removed, I find pankatron to be very entertaining, and somethign to do while I seek for merit, when I don't feel like soloing. The way FFs PvP is, its broken, but a good way to add it in, with the games story. Story wise, there is no reason, for adventures to randomly break out in fights -.- If they would just fix the current PvP, then all is good.

    Its not PvP based. But pvp does increase enjoyment.
    And PvP does exist in the game already but playing a minor part which no one even care (i swear most people didn't even know PvP exist in the game).

    What i want is to have a solution maybe PvP during seeking will increase its general population people who hate sit and seek.

    You can tell SE that FFXI is not a Pokemon game... remove pankatron :P

    the problem with pvp today now i see is

    1. Its takes way to long for a game. And there are cap specific time. Which mean for a game you wait 3-4 hours....

    2. The maps they played in are way too large for PVP and too many "taru" death trap.

    3. There is simply no meaning at all. Looking at the rewards... doesn't encourage me.

    4. Can we have PvP that teleport @ whitegate and that let you "seek" group and leave while playing. It will get rid of whitegate's lag for sure....

    Nyzul isn't quite what I had in mind though.

    I mean, it kinda sucks that you can't just take a party and wander around the world for a dungeon to explore and loot. Sure we have coffers and such but those pop once every 20 minutes give or take and require mob dropped keys.

    How about some chests that can just be found and opened in a random dungeon? Or an NM that guards said chest? Or more chests that require a THF in the party to open. ANYTHING really at this point.

    I mean, in older FF titles there are always hidden items and such in the various dungeons... why not in XI? And no, Coffers and their ilk do not count. Nor does Nyzul Isle, since it's all in the same spot and you're on a time limit etc...


    I'm thinking SE could add a few new dungeons specifically designed for treasure hunting! ^^

    It's a competition, all right, but at no point do you directly oppose a player or players. It would be called competitive PvE, I'd say.

    Didn't you just describe Nyzul Isle assaults? NMs from the game are there, it's every changing, and requires a degree of team coordination?

    Just because it's cooperative does not mean it isn't a competition.
    Player vs Player would typically include attack other...players wouldn't it? Conquest is still player vs environment. And I don't think I've ever met anyone that wouldn't invite me to thier party because I'm from Windurst and hurt thier nation's standing in conquest.

    I would like to see more PvP events in FFXI myself. Personally waiting around town for the next uncapped ballista/brenner to take place is not a very well designed PvP system. And to add to that, you can't actually play the game like you normally do; I don't recall ever getting penalized for swapping gear in normal exp or events, why do I in Ballista? I don't want to have to eat up even more macro room by having a PvP set as well.

    I'm not sure how well a large scale PvP system would go over though. There doesn't seem to be a very large PvP community in FFXI (perhaps due to the lack of it already in existance) and those type events the were described in the OP would probably be canceled due to lack of intrest.

    I would like to see a better version of Ballista though. One that doesn't penalize for equipment swaps; that occur more frequently (or are instanced and can be done when we choose); and perhaps have some tangible reward to it. Perhaps it could effect conquest, or give CP or IS, or even a gil reward. Nothing too large of a reward, but something to help build intrest in it.
