The Steam version of FFXI doesn't let you use windower (except the plugins), FYI.

It might also be worth checking Steam every now and then for an Ultimate Edition to go on sale. I know the Ultimate Edition only cost me £9 and being able to download the game files at the very least at any time is always nice. But that does also involve using Steam to play an MMO (though thankfully FFXI doesn't require Steam to be running or even installed to play it like SWTOR and Origin).

I've developed a slight hatred for most Japanese game developers as they seem out of touch with the community outside of Japan, and their public stocks speak for this (look at Capcom and Square-Enix's stocks). The final straw was the release of fat MegaMan in Street Fighter x Tekken.

But yes lol

...now I just realized that there is no ultimate edition for the new expansion. BAHHH!!! Might not be coming back at this rate

Thank you, this kinda makes me rage a little bit. The Japanese have always been stubborn or ignorant with regards to mainstream technologies. Final Fantasy XIV's install process made me want to shoot whoever made the system >=(

As topic states.

I do NOT have a optical drive on my computer and I have no idea where the hell the CDs are. Even if I did find the CDs, I'd have to rip them as .ISOs and mount them, which is possible but I would rather avoid it.

Is it possible to stream the game or are the Japanese, like before, years behind current software technology?

I feel like returning for nostalgia reasons and because I've read of the more "solo friendly" changes! I have not played since..2006..? Or slightly later? I don't remember.
