Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
I don't understand why they changed the mobs in those zones? As a low level, I used to enjoy leveling in those places. Less competition, for one, and a change of scenery. What exactly was the purpose? Are people going to spend more time there? They basically eliminated a couple of places that low levels used to like leveling up.
I also heard there were aggro mobs on the way to the three mage gate. I guess SE hated the fact that people could bring mules to open it.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
So I went to check out two of the new mobs zones.
Zeruhn mines had quite a few mobs in the south section that conned EP to 90. They apparently totally replaced whatever was there before. None of them aggroed.
Then I went to check out Horutoto. Seriously, WTF SE? Open the cracked wall to the caves, and right there, level 85-ish goblins, both ways. (Yes, that's higher level than Toraimorai canal, so I wonder what crap they'll put down there in a future update!) And I'm not aware of a (non-NPC) goblin that doesn't aggro. I started fighting one, but then another linked to him. Kenbishi made sure I stayed alive long enough to use a warp scroll (ahem), so I didn't check any deeper. And one group of them is right behind the cracked wall. Remember, you can't open that while invisible, so you have to time it.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
I don't see how currency rates won't go up as a result of this update.
SE did a serious nerfing to the drop rates. Yes they drop from the new KCNMs but that's not the most reliable source.
Also I just remembered, where the hell are the buffs to Campaign SE?

No seriously, because as Elwynn said, they will never get killed.
But once the Abyssea Alliance of Awesome was discovered, nobody wanted to exp on anything outside Aby if they didn't have to. The Vultures still have their place, presumably for skill-ups (and they can even be charmed by BSTs who want to experience the old-school stuff), and I'm waiting for the next cap raise to play with the Hispid Rabbits in Saruta-S (wanna charm/familiar one and pwn a campaign battle).
But many of the new mobs are worse than a waste of time, as they aggro to people who would never care about them. Or someone attacks one by accident (I did that on Hispids once when leveling on the regular bunnies in Saruta-S). And they did such a great job of putting them out of the way, too. Other than one of the promy map ??? spawn points sometimes being behind new aggro mobs, all the others were way in the back or could be at least be walked around by using a redundant path.
But now I hear they've put new aggro mobs along the way to the 3-mage gate? And along the way from Rangy Pass to Glacier? Seriously, WTF?
Maybe that's why they aggro... they're so pissed that they have no meaning in life that they just want to kill everyone they see. Yeah, I guess I'd be pissed too if nobody fought me because all I dropped was a couple of freaking Synergy mordants. Monsters get to have pet peeves, too.

Also, lots of QQ over Dynamis going on. Just finished reading over at BG, they've even turned Dynamis into Abyssea. Mobs are MUCH stronger than they were before, you can proc !! now and currency drop rates are just pure shit now. 2 coins in 45 minutes? WTF!?
The trick now seems to be keep moving, plowing your way through to the ??? and knowing where good camps are... which seems to be "nowhere". Literally. It seems like there's nowhere in (in Bastok at least) there that mobs don't wander. Pulling to a camp is now old and busted. Oh yeah, and they will even run up to you, kill your weakened ass again, and then depop. Knowing about sneak/invis can help, though.
The problem with being able to go in every day is that... people just don't have that kind of time to devote to nothing but Dynamis. 3 hours a day (actually 4 when you count {gather} time) twice a week worked okay to get a full alliance together. And the mob repop rates assume that you're not the only group there, which means everyone else is spending that kind of time in there. I don't think it's going to work, and it's certainly not going to pull people away from spamming +1/+2 armor items in Aby.
And I'm wondering if it's even going to be possible to get from the entrance of Glacier to the Mega Boss pop within a reasonable time. I still need that clear.

And for those who asked, AH listing prices have not changed in the starter cities.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
Yes, they merged the Auction Houses, no they haven't changed the NPC dialog yet. Yes, they've changed Dynamis, but Mal's take on the changes are primarily him arglebargling. (seriously, even at BG the most I have seen are a couple of mild complaints, but somehow that translates as "OH FUCK THIS SHIT" to Mal. I don't get it.)
I have some concerns about mob placement in certain zones, but otherwise, I'm happy with the update.

More likely that they're mules. :/ Which just makes it worse.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
My husband just did his update & is in the process of doing mine. He had to change his name with the world merge. At least four other people in our LS have had to change, too. I hope I don't have to -- or that if I do, my alternate choice for a name (oddly enough, the name I use here) is available.
It's going to be weird seeing other people running around with my friends' names.

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
I've heard it didn't happen and I've heard that the rumor that it didn't happen is a translation error... anyone know for realsies ?
I put a bunch of earth cry on last night from a mule and the prices in Windy seemed as low as they ever were.

With the linked AH thing -- are the costs to put items up now the same in all cities?

Re: The Version Update Has Arrived! (05/10/2011)
I think the spacing looks funky.
I still prefer the .dat mod version, myself. After every major update I always had to scramble to get it back up and running. The default font is teh ugly.
