Sunny and cold as hell here. Had to go out and snowblow again because the 17 inches we got yesterday got blown all over hell again. Time for a nap.

One of the few parts of the country that has sunshine right now, I'd wager. We've got partial cloud cover, but (knock on wood) at least we don't have any fucking snow.

And tbh, if my printer at home worked or if the printer here at work printed in color that would be hanging up in my cubicle right now. Though I suppose a B&W version wouldn't be too terrible. Wonder if that'd get me in trouble.

Only one way to find out ... *prints*
I'm in Boston. So yeah, it's 2:30 here too. I say "good morning" because I work for the airlines. I got up today at Noon and clocked in at 1:30. I work until Midnight. So yes... this is morning. Good morning. Gee it's sunny out.

And this pretty much sums it up, but as long as they keep paying me, I'm content to do fucksquat all day.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to play alone.

I think thats what draws me to FFXI. I have plenty of games I can play alone, but I don't have many that I can play with friends, make new friends and play with real other people. I love FFXI because I can play with my fiance and there are a lot of choices in character classes (though a few more character appearance options would be lovely).

For me, the world of MMOs were a completely new experience when I joined in the end of 2009. I was skeptical about playing with others and wanted to avoid them at all costs because I just wanted to play the game and not bother anyone or do something to make people angry at me. I was especially nervous when I got into my first party. But i was so glad, afterwards, that I did! My fears of playing with others began to vanish and I found myself having more fun than when I played alone. Sure there are somethings that I'd rather do alone, like being able to farm things, but I found the right ls and they are always willing to help. (So while I may feel bad about asking for help, they always try to ease my anxiety and let me know that it is ok to ask).

IMO, I do not want FFXI to become single player. I think that would really turn me off playing because I enjoy the MMO experience it provides. I can see how others would feel the opposite, but I really enjoy the MMO environment, speciically FFXI since its the only one I play.

For me, and this is not the case anymore since the level cap increase, the sheer reliance on anyone to do just about anything was really frustrating. I wanted to get some kitty pants for my WAR, but I had to farm a popset. Okay, I can solo that part, slowly as fucking balls but I can solo it, then when it comes time to popping Byakko? At least a full party, usually a few more for safety's sake. Only to be fucked by the drop rate. At least a dozen times.

Either the drop rate or the lack of people to do anything with by the time I quit was the major cockblock to progression. Naturally, an offline version of XI couldn't work the same way. Imagine the same world that you progress through in a much more linear manner with your party? You're more of a main player in the storyline of Vana'diel instead of just an extra? That would be sweet.

I'm not saying I would want the exact game of XI replicated and put into offline mode, but I'd really love to experience an offline RPG game in the world of Vana'diel, with all of the characters, zones, mobs, etc., that I loved. Would I run into Prishe at some point while progressing through the story? Of course. Or Naja, or Lion? That would be quite awesome. Could they maybe even join my party for a brief period of time? That would be even more awesome. The possibilities for this type of game are endless, and I doubt SE would ever do it, but I'd love if FFXI-Offline was basically like the "missing" XIth Final Fantasy RPG game. Since a lot of people I know never played XI because they didn't really feel like it was a true FF game. Give it a start, progression, exploration, etc., and an end. Make it fit somehow with actual online XI if you want, even. But it would be cool.

    I'm sorry, I really am.

But while I myself enjoyed the game a lot back when I had a LS I have to say human interactions outside of old Trials-like content are a bother and a chore.

I wouldn't go as far as to prefer offline XI (since other players make very good background characters, even if they tend to kill the framerate), but soloable XI with the option to maybe team up if you wish to do so would definitely be the way to go for me.

Which is probably why I'm loving DCUO and it's more casual approach to partying on instances. No need for to be in a league to do multiplayer stuff, you just queue and get teamed up automatically with other people wanting to do the same thing as you at the same time. x10

(And yes, that game also includes League/Linkshell based content too for those who prefer it that way.)

Er, you can do pretty much whatever you want now--if you're soloing. Just don't expect to win the harder fights if what you're doing isn't logical. Oh, and don't expect other people to let you force the way you want to play onto them. Other than that, you're golden.

By the way, plenty of people don't use /NIN now--but A) Getting sufficient cures if they are on the front line, or B) Playing a back line job, or C) Fighting easy stuff.

(Well, A) would also require setting up your character in a way to be able to survive long enough for cures to come in, but you wouldn't want those elitists to tell you how to gear and buff, would you?)
