Oh stop bitching about the directx version.

For one, you get the real version the game uses for graphics wrong.
Second, upgrading will not magically mean a performance or visuals boost.
Third, the graphics are most likely not multi-threaded so multicore or SMP would mean dick all.

The DirectX level is not a problem. Anything past a GeForce 6 and a P4 is so far and above what the minimum requirements are that the game would run as fast as it could simply by virtue of brute force.

I knew Malacite was a consumer whore, but I never thought I'd see him make a topic bitching about a lack of advertising.

It would've been great for playing XI though. (And it worked awesome with Armada )

Sadly that computer was KIA some time ago. But parts of it were used to build the comp I'm using to post right now, so it still lives in spirit. /sob

You can play Call of Duty 4 with all the bells and whistles at 60+ fps and 1360x768 res one moment only to get 20fps when there's more than 20 people around you in Whitegate while playing XI the next.

I'd quit too if I had to play on that.

Why, you get all of the maintenance in your prime-time. What more could you ask for? JPs miss it 'cause they're asleep, and NA's miss it 'cause we're at work/school.

I didn't know anyone evar got an "awesome" ffxi ad. Also, I didn't really care.

Malacite, this topic is a little too pointless, even for you.

Travelling to Cali for the fanfest isn't as fun or as interesting as it may seem though.

Although yeah, at least games get here much faster. o_O

Unless of course SE is advocationg for us to use the windower there's no way the game will look like that.
You don't need windower to boost the resolution on your game. Hell when I first started playing with my new com my game looked a lot like the stuff on the first page...until I tried walking in WG. After that I turned down the settings to be a bit less detailed, but far more functional.

Polygon count looks the same, and I see jaggies on the WHM as well as on the Ranger (look at the bow). The only thing that doesn't fit is the textures seem to be higher rez for some, not all, of the characters, like they touched it up a little bit.

Man I miss my old computer, I haven't been able to play Star Trek Armada ever since I stopped using 98.

    DirectX 6 ftw

So, are we feeling silly for joking about my super computer yet?
I wish I still had my Packard Bell so I could laugh at it. It was a Pentium I with like 64MB of ram at the most. Integrated Audio and Video, CD Drive, and a 1GB Hard Drive that was compressed to 2GB.

My Mom's Pionex P3 has 256MB Ram, CD Burner/DVD Drive, Integrated Graphics (This was before AGP, it had all PCI Slots.) and a 100GB HD.
