One of my ls mates got hacked about 2 weeks ago. He should be getting the account back from SE this week sometime. He was checking the sales on FFXIAH and it looks like everything of worth was sold off his account by a new account that didn't have a history before the day he got hacked.

With PS2/3 and 360 users, the only real way to get "hacked" is to use similar passwords on websites or, the more common mistake of sharing passwords with in-game "friends" over forums or other means of communication.

PC users have those two ways and then all the spyware and keyloggers you can get on your system. You can't get this stuff on a system that has no real web-browsing capability, but PCs do. Some people still insist on using third-party windower for all the nifty plug-ins and that's one great way to become a target, repeating your passwords on FFXI sites that have been easily comprimised before is another possibility. The spyware is where things really get nefarious and occasionally difficult to target, as a spyware program wont look for things its not told to look for.

Anyway, Sevv, I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. This is the second case I've hear this week, earlier this week an LBR member got hit too, but it sounded far more malicious than just cleaning out currency and gil. They tossed lots of endgame R/E after they took the gil x.x

People who hack accounts or do this stuff to make a person's in-game experience miserable are the people I hate the most in MMOs. They get wrapped up in thier little "justice" fantasies (or are just RMT or a jerk out of gil) and ruin the game for other people.

Well I came home this morning to someone looting my account, got kinda lucky by logging into interrupt them from fully stripping my account. Cleared off all mules and most of my main including all my dynamis currency. I haven't downloaded anything I didn't know if there was a round 2 of a ffxiah/somepage.

Won't be responding to this thread for awhile since ill be reformating my laptop, thank god for my ps2 to change the p/w.
