I use the same password I use for everything, and I've even shared my account with a friend. I'm a shining example of either really good luck or, for lack of a better phrase, a guy who's got his shit together.

    Obligatory sorry Sevv!

To be honest if my char got hacked and abused like some have. There is no point to me coming back. I just can't see myself doing everything all over again.

As for password I use a mix of upper case and lower case letters with a number thrown into the mix.

It doesn't happen with S-E because they do not use logic ever.

Doesn't happen for the same reason they store information on the servers and not locally in the first place, you can't trust the end user.

TBH I'm surprised this hasnt been implemented in MMOs in general. The only problem is if you back up your character, sell some items, and then restore it...But I suppose you could create a system to prevent this such as preventing you from selling items that you opt to keep "backed up" along with you not being able to do it often and/or requiring a good deal of procedure from GMs.

I just play on consoles, never give out my FFXI password and never set any web passwords or windows passwords the same as my FFXI password.

Keyloggers aside if you want a more secure password...well use a mix of letters and numbers...in the past hackers got in to systems by using dictornary programs and it's one way to prevent this...

A good way to start your security in a meaningful way is to use a Real Operating System when you aren't playing the game.

Ya, I don't have much at all and I would quit instead of trying to recover.

Recently my bank has installed a new method of inputting our PINs by pressing buttons instead of typing them out. I've had ideas of something similar in the past as an added safeguard, but it involved repeating patterns of colors, sounds, and flashing lights.

I don't think it's possible to accurately clicklog yet.

In WoW they actually require you to type the word delete in a box when throwing out certain pieces of unique equipment. I think it would be nice if there were a keyword we could set for throwing out Rare/Ex pieces of equipment.

False. You can never be completely safe.

The closest you can get is to consider every way you think that someone can get access to your password, and stop it.

Sure you can take precautions, no script and ad block on FF. up to date on your computers protection. You can even have a password that uses everything on the board. But even then that doesn't seem like its enough anymore.
