they're governed by the same rules as every other mob in the game. the difference is *we* are stronger.
(anyone gone back to deco weapons recently? what used to be 17 mobs in a big loop and finish just in time to run back and start over before the first room was *entirely* repopped now has a 5-8 minute afk between loops)
there's only a handful of non AU mobs 80+ ; you've got (basically) lufaise fomors near blueblade fell, (not enough to exp on) Abraxas, aura weapons and kindred.
I've argued before (somewhat unsuccessfully) that the reason we perceive AU mobs as weak is because for the first time we're finally exping on mobs that primarily *aren't* paladins.
beetles? paladins. crabs? paladins. aura statues? etc.
we're finally fighting stuff with some attack value (watch how fast hp goes down if you let a mamool lurker beat on someone who isn't evading/guarding/shadowing the hits away. ) which of course means less defense and/or hp. and that makes them weaker?
I mean sure; I guess from a certain point of view a mamool ja zenist is weaker than a fomor paladin, but let's be honest with ourselves; they're not drastically different challenges.
abraxas don't have particularly more HP than colibri either, btw; they just have damage reduction to the majority of weapons in the game.
as for comparing them to pre-AU mobs, there aren't really enough mobs to *make* a comparison! of the 64 mobs with a minimum level of 80+ only 23 of them are non-AU. if you do 81+? 6 of 38.
