Re: Greetings
I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly, you're still required to have a credit card to start up your account. You just don't have to pay for it for the first 30 days. So if having a credit card would be the problem, he wouldn't even be able to start up the account.Originally posted by Hinder View PostMaybe his parents wont pay for it? O_o But I would just try to convince them too if thats the case..plus u get a free 30 day trial so u could play for 30 days if you dont like it then quit. Or Just play till summer vacation is over with them go back on your character whenever u have time. Its not like its Diablo ware your character gets deleted without playing it for X amount of days. So it will most likely be there when you get back!

Re: Greetings
Heh, yeah, that extra stuff is a bit of a hassle. I remember I went out and bought that whole package thing for the ps2, with the hard drive and game, and whatever, and I got home, all excited to fire it up and start my character. I looked at the instructions on how to install the harddrive, and realised I had forgotten to buy a network adapter.Originally posted by Silent Howler View Postlol, well I'm not really expecting to get a lot of playing time over next year, so I might just wait. I do have a PS2, but all that extra stuff is a little bit of a hassle.
Then there was the 18 hours of updates before I could even get online ._.;
But eh, it was worth it in the end.

Re: Greetings
That's what I'm hoping for. My dad is pretty generous actually. There have been plently of times where he has bought stuff for me or my brother without question. No begging required. And there is the 30 day free trial too.Originally posted by Hinder View PostMaybe his parents wont pay for it? It's worth a shot.

Re: Greetings
ok thats Weird then I quit my first character for 2 years and when I logged back on it was still there. o_O Plus even if that is true I doubt they will delete it after being in active for only 2 months....Originally posted by Kailea View Postthats actually not true, I had to calll and have my charater loaded from backup or something along those lines, because I was away for about 6 months, after 3 months you have no guarantee that your character will be there when you come back.

Re: Greetings
That is how it used to be - now, you have normally up to 12 months.

Well, without more information I just assumed that he meant he couldn't afford it.

Re: Greetings
It basically is. And I'll be spending the rest of the summer here. So if I really wanted to, I could actually start playing pretty soon. Of course, things would slow down or stop completely once summer passes, but until then I have quite a lot of free time.
Just have to worry about the monthly fee.

Re: Greetings
Is this computer yours to use whenever? If so, then get it for the PC. If not, hope for a 360.

Re: Greetings
Yeah, I'm positive my home computer would not be able to handle FFXI. But my dad has said something about getting me my own laptop later (like how he bought my brother a computer). So I could play it on that.
Of course, this computer that I am using now is much better. It could work on this. I'm thinking getting it for computer might be the best choice, since I don't have a 360 (yet) and the playstation version requires more purchasing..but it could work too.
Suggestions? XD

Re: Greetings
Well by the sounds of it, your PC on way or another will not beable to run FFXI, so its the 360 or PS2 for you ;p and heck go ahead and start now if ya want, get in some solo farming time while you can, then when you really start to play more, you will have the money to do what ya want.
