You all know about those nation aketons that give movement + 12% and increase your chance of getting crystals. My question is, do these allow you to get crystals even when you're not getting EXP, or does it just increase the amount of crystals you'd normally get? It'd be nice to be able to farm wind crystals in giddeus rather than paying 5k a stack on AH. <.<

you need to gain exp in order to get crystals, period. unless you farm elementals.
Aketon helps the crystal to drop more often. But you are still limitted to 1 crystal per mob if you're soloing.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

It's also important to note that each Aketon only works for citizens of that city. I own all 3, and the only one that works for me now is the Federation Aketon since my character is now pledged to Windurst. Wearing the Republic Aketon does not give me either the speed boost inside Bastok nor the crystal boost effect. Ditto for the Kingdom Aketon and San d'Oria.
In other words: If you're not a citizen of a particular city, don't buy the Aketon unless you just want it for looks.

for real icemage? I borrowed sandoria aketon from friend and I thought I got lots of crystals from ghelsba o.O

I thought that too, and while it's hard to test the crystal drop effect for sure, it's not exactly stunningly different. I did try my San d'Orian Aketon while levelling WAR and DRK for the first few levels for the DRK quest and Chaosbringer a while back and didn't seem to get any more crystals than I should have as a Windurstian in a zone controlled by another city. I should test it again sometime with a new job, assuming I ever get any more time to play...Originally posted by Jei
