FFXI First Update time

Ok, I just bought the Vana'diel Collections box, installed everything good, playonline etc. When I Started up FFXI in Playonline, it started to update, in particular, it needs to download/update 2061 files, and so far it's at about 1500. In the bottom of the window it says time remaining - 3:35:07
My question is, did it take this long normally for you guys to update FFXI for the first time, or shorter, and maybe why??

You're d/l'ing all the updates since early or mid last year (can't remember when the dvd collection came out). There have also been several pretty major updates since then. For 2k files (I'm guessing you're on high speed? cable/dsl?) 3+ hours isn't unheard of. Also, its likely to fall much faster, give it about 30 minutes and it may be down to 2 hours or less. I know when I usually update it starts off really high, but ends up taking less than half the time it originally says.

lol, now it says 1:20:56, I guess you're right, and yeah, the one I bought only came with one disk in it so it's dvd.
