Should i use a dagger or a sword for theif. The best daggers dont do much dmg but they are fast, however i cant tell if its worth it because the swords arent much slower but a good bit more damage. Any ideas?

Your weapon of choice as a theif really depends on which direction you'll be going with your jobs...like what your sub job and advance job will be. Put those into consideration and figure out what is best for you since each job is known for doing better damage with a specific type of weapon.
Personally, I'd go with dagger...only because later on with ninja as your main and theif as sub, your duel weilding attack skills will be superb.

as a thf, u should train all of them; dagger, sword, and grapple.
dagger really sucks until lvl 33, so no need to train it until like 30. this is because until the Viper Bite ws that thf learns at skill 100 (lvl 33), no ws is stronger than the fast blade or combo.
also, u'll only need 1h sword until lvl 33, that is, again, the Viper Bite. Fast Blade comes handy in skill chaining, but once u learn that ws, it's no longer used.
the combo ws in grapple is very strong, and u really should use this especially in low lvl. also, combo combined w/ sneak attack leaves a great damage, so it's often used in parties. however, after lvl 33, thf starts to use dagger as a main weapon, so u'll find less chances to use this. but always train grapple as it might be needed in the future, especially when ur party decides to kill bones for leveling; bones r tolerant to thrusting, which includes daggers, and r weak to batting attacks, that include grapple.
